Part 1

In the Sengoku period..

"Mmnn.. Nnn.."

A child groaned as she rolled her head, painfully, against the cold wooden floors beneath her

Slowly, her eyes began to opened as she was greeted by the dark shadows of her home..

"W-what.. What happened?" She questioned as she hissed in pain, attempting to try and stand on her feet

The child wobbled around the wooden floors and walked pass corpses of several people around her home

All dead.. Rotting.. And half-eaten as blood stained the floors and walls near them

"W-Where am I? S-So dizzy.." She groaned as she was able to reach the front door of her house, only to end up collapsing from the pain she felt

As she was about to lose consciousness, a bright light appeared yet her vision blurred as she was being rocked in and out from consciousness..

"Ar.. ..u ..ay?"

She heard as her world went dark and her consciousness slipped into the abyss..

A Few Minutes Earlier..

"We're close, Aniue"

"Are you sure this is where we are heading?"

"Certainly.. Let us hope we aren't too late"

A pair of Demon Slayers spoke as they ran towards a remote village, during the midst of a freezing winter night..

A report of demons lurking in the area were announced and has sent in two of their strongest Demon Slayers to handle the ordeal

Yet, they were too late.. The moment they had arrived to the village

All of the houses occupying the vicinity had already been entered, every last person had already been killed and devoured by demons..

"We're too late.."

Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the Younger Demon Slayer, turned to his Elder brother as he saw him collapsed to his knees in despair and grieved for the death of the family that he once had..

"Michikatsu.. Aniue, you're not alone.. Enough with the tears.. We will avenge both of our families and put an end to all of the demons"

Michikatsu Tsugikuni, the Elder Demon Slayer, sobbed quietly and nodded as he wiped his tears and got back on his feet

His midnight black hair flew with the winter breeze as his Dark purple eyes grew darker in despair of his lost..

"Let us go put your family to rest before we go, Aniue.. A final farewell to your family before we leave.."

Michikatsu nodded as he lead the way to his previous home with a gloomy look on his face

"Hold on.."

"?!"

Yoriichi heard a sound.. The sound of footsteps echoed slightly from Michikatsu's house yet what alerted him the most was the sound of a steady little heartbeat coming from the house

"What's the matter?"

"A survivor"

Yoriichi uttered as they quickly dash over towards Michikatsu's settlement and was just in time to find a child collapsed before them

Michikatsu felt his heart skipped a beat as hope began to fill his eyes before rushing over towards the child's side with Yoriichi tailing behind him

"Are you okay?!"

Michikatsu exclaimed in worry as he began shaking the child to get a response

Yoriichi held out two of his fingers towards the child's neck and felt around for a pulse, only to feel relieved at the active beating of her pulse

"She's alive.. At least one managed to survive"

Yoriichi confirmed as Michikatsu felt tears of joy trickled down his cheeks..

Yoriichi and Michikatsu immediately took their time to bury the dead before leaving the area with Michikatsu's surviving daughter..

At the Demon Slayers Headquarters..

Yoriichi and Michikatsu have successfully arrived to Headquarters right before daybreak as Michikatsu immediately rushed towards the Medical ward to have his daughter checked over thoroughly

While, Yoriichi, on the other hand, had alerted all of their comrades of the situation as they immediately alerted their Master..

"Master, Yoriichi and Michikatsu has returned from their mission.. It seems they have brought along a child with them.."

"A child?"

"Yoriichi claims she is Michikatsu's daughter.. The only survivor from the village"

"Where is the child now?"

"At the Medical ward.. The nurses are trying their best to handle the situation.."

"Tell me when she awakens.."

"Yes, Master"

The Master sighs softly as he was left alone once again, yet he couldn't help but ponder about Michikatsu's Daughter

Demons surely wouldn't have been able to miss her yet he couldn't shake off the feeling that something seems off about it..

Two Days later.. At the Ubuyashiki Mansion..

After informing all available Demon Slayers to gather before their Leader, including Yoriichi and Michikatsu

Michikatsu didn't want to leave his daughter behind and couldn't find it in him to focus on what would the master has to say..

"Michikatsu.."

"Hn? Yes, Master Ubuyashiki?"

"Are you certain that child you found is yours?"

"Yes, Master Ubuyashiki.. I am certain she is my daughter.."

Michikatsu answered as Yoriichi confirmed it himself which gave no room for other objections

"Then we are to remain vigilant and cautious around her.. I fear the child may have been exposed to Demon Blood as it seems"

Michikatsu frozed as he felt his blood run cold and his hands trembling on his lap

As if things couldn't get worst, a commotion occurred at the Medical Ward that made all Demon Slayers rush over quickly to handle the problem..

While the other slayers entered through the front doors of the Medical ward, Michikatsu and Yoriichi had gone through the window and easily reached Natsumi's room where she has cornered herself in the darkest corners of the room

"Yoriichi.. Keep the door close.."

Yoriichi nodded and locked the door as Michikatsu slowly approached his daughter, making sure he wouldn't scare her away

A growl was heard as Michikatsu's daughter attempted to swipe her claws at him or even bite him yet there was something about him that smelled calming to her

When Michikatsu attempted to touch her, he carefully pulled her towards him and into his arms as she began to take a deep breath on his scent

"Otou-san is here, Natsumi.. You don't have to be scared.. I'm here.."

Michikatsu cooed to his daughter as she kept sniffing him and get a grasp of his calming scent.. He smelled so much like family to her.
