Meanwhile, A Year Ago.. During Nezuko's Training..

Nezuko sighed as she waited at the foot of the mountain for Natsumi to return, feeling a little disappointed that she wouldn't be able to see her brother unless her test is complete..

Natsumi had already warned them in advance about the purpose of this test, considering just how well-coordinated their movements were when fighting together as a team, they needed to learn how to solve their own battles as an individual and thus ordered for a solo training with the both of them as the final obstacle towards Final Selection

Nezuko and Tanjiro were slightly disappointed to hear that they would be receiving different tasks for their final test, along with the fact that they'll be training under different swordsmen to improve their personal fighting skills all on their own..

By the time Natsumi arrived, Nezuko tried to prepare herself for what's coming to her "Are you ready to proceed your training, Nezuko?" Natsumi asked, only to receive a confident nod in response before having to take Nezuko towards her examination area.

A Few Minutes Later, Somewhere around the Lotus Mansion..

A soft sigh was heard as Nezuko and Natsumi finally reached their destination, standing in front of a clearing filled with flowers and a variety of different tests set out for Nezuko, she couldn't help but feel confused at this point

"This is where I'll have to be leaving you, Nezuko.. Until your able to complete each and every task at this clearing I will allow you to just the final selection along with your brother.." Natsumi stated as Nezuko nodded her head determiningly and yet she came to notice something odd about her test

'Wait.. Why does it look like I need to have an opponent for this test?' Nezuko thought, failing to realize that Natsumi heard her thoughts yet she kept her mouth shut and decided to keep it as a surprise for Nezuko to discover

"Good luck with your tasks, Nezuko.. You're trainer should be arriving now, so do your best to meet her expectations.." Natsumi spoke one last time before suddenly disappearing into thin air

"Ah! There you are, Nezuko~" Nezuko heard as she turned her head towards the side and caught sight of Kanae walking towards her with a sweet smile on her face..

"Kanae?"

"Shall we start Nezuko?"

Kanae asked, only to received and eager response from Nezuko as they began with her training, before proceeding to complete her final examination.

A Year Later..

"Are you ready, Nezuko?"

"Ready!"

"Go!"

Kanae cued as Nezuko and her started to block each other from grasping the cups of water set out on the coffee table..

The first task was simple each competitor has to throw a cup of water onto their opponent, but there's a catch the opponent is allowed to block them from picking their cup

Nezuko had already lost multiple times in this training yet her line of failures didn't mean she learned from her mistakes

Kanae may have won a majority of time but her victory had also improved Nezuko's awareness and observation skills to the point that she was also on par with her own level of skill in awareness

"Ha! I win!" Nezuko cheered as Kanae sat still on her seat with a cup of water on her head, it may have been training but Nezuko was too much of a good person to even throw water at a kind person like Kanae

Kanae smiled as she congratulated Nezuko before moving on with the next task which was a game of tag, it was simple really but even in this kind of task Nezuko still manages failed her task

It was clear to Kanae that Nezuko had a very low-stamina and a small lung capacity that failed to expand during Natsumi's training but now, Nezuko was different..

The moment they began their challenge, Nezuko was able to catch up with Kanae's level of speed and was so close in catching her if Kanae hadn't decided to dodge her

Normally Nezuko would end up stumbling over towards her front, but now she was able to regain her balance and bounce back into action, only to surprise Kanae from behind as she successfully to grasps Kanae's sleeve from behind

Kanae was felt a bit of pride bubbling from within her heart as Nezuko started to celebrate her victory in successfully completing two tasks in a row, without any failures this time

Seeing as this will be the last time Kanae would be able to see Nezuko, she couldn't help but feel a bit sad at the thought of sending Nezuko into Final Selection

"Nee~ Well done, Nezuko just one more task left to go" Kanae cheered sadly as Nezuko casted her a small smile before proceeding with her final obstacle

Kanae presented Nezuko, a very huge gourd made of a special type of clay that could be used to exercise a person's lung capacity, to complete Nezuko's final obstacle she has to break the the gourd just by blowing through it with her mouth..

"Ready?"

"Ready!"

"Go!"

Kanae cued as Nezuko immediately took hold of the gourd and forced her lungs to blow every last drop of air into the tube, hoping all of it was enough to break this single gourd to ensure her success

"Keep at it, Nezuko! You're almost there! Just a little more!" Kanae cheered as she heard the gourd was starting to crack on the inside, only to see tiny cracks emerging from the sides of the gourd as they grew bigger and bigger that the gourd shattered from the pressure

Nezuko panted heavily as she saw the shattered gourd in her hands, she couldn't feel any proud of herself as Kanae began to congratulate her one last time before departing

Hearing Natsumi's footsteps approaching from the side, Nezuko had immediately turned her head towards the side, only to see Natsumi walking towards her with a proud look on her face..

"Impressive, Nezuko.. Truly impressive.. You and your brother have truly made this one proud.." Natsumi uttered with a small smile, only to end up embracing her once more as they began to retreat back towards her mansion to celebrate her success along with Tanjiro's success for completing their final test, to attend Final Selection.
