Night Drive

It was just passed midnight and Y/N thought she was in for a quiet night. She hadn't had a passenger for the past 2 hours and had been sitting in her car at the same taxi stop for too long. Other drivers were talking to each other, but frankly, Y/N didn't want to have anything to do with that right now.

She placed her seat back upright from the laying position she had it on and decided to drive around. She needed a change of scenery.

The streets of LA were pretty empty, but then again it was the middle of the week. She drove down some avenues, admiring the layout of the city. It was never her plan to become a cab driver. She had wanted to do so much more with her life. But a sudden loss of job got her to take the first thing she could think of doing. Plus she liked driving around.

She had been fortunate to never have real psychos or weirdos in the back of her car. Most of her fares didn't even want to talk to her. Which, again, was fine with her. She wasn't much of a talker. Especially when it came to small talk.

In the distance she saw a petite girl waving frantically at her taxi. Y/N pulled over, right in front of the girl wearing an oversized white furry looking coat. She couldn't help but laugh, before she got in the car, at how hidden that girl was due her coat.

"Good evening. Could you drive me to this address please?" The girl in the backseat scooted closer to hand Y/N the phone with the address marked on it. Y/N was surprised at the location as it was at least over 50 minutes away. This was a wonderful fare for the middle of the night.

Y/N silently nodded and realised that she hadn't even greeted the girl that got into the car.

"Realised I forgot to say good evening." Y/N said politely but awkwardly. She threw a quick glance at her in the rear view mirror and realised who had just gotten into the taxi. Everyone knew Ariana Grande.

"I didn't see you were a girl." Ariana said to Y/N, a bit taken aback hearing the young girl's voice. She wasn't sure why but she felt the need to explain herself after those words escaped her lips.

"Sorry, I said that out loud didn't I?" She chuckled nervously. "I just never got into a taxi where the driver was a girl before." She instantly felt really stupid saying that.

Y/N, however, couldn't help but laugh. She had never heard that one before.

"You're right, it's rare. Hanging around those guys all the time, you quickly become one though." Y/N mentally facepalmed herself.
This is why she never talked to people, to avoid her mouth coming up with shit like that. So it came to a surprise when she heard a light chuckle at the backseat of the car.

"I bet." Her soft voice echoed through to the front.

Y/N then realised she hadn't even started to drive. She quickly decided to start the car again and head towards where Ariana had showed her to go. The first couple of minutes everything was silent. As she looked into the rear view mirror again, she saw Ariana on her phone scrolling through it and occasionally typing very aggressively on the phone. She could tell because the clicking of her nails against the screen were fast and hitting hard.

She heard the girl sigh, which caused her to again look at her through the mirror. This time Ariana was staring back. Y/N felt like a creep so quickly looked away and focused back on the road.

"It's okay to stare." she laughed. "Just like I've never had a female cab driver before, you probably never had a celebrity in the back of your car." Ariana was still looking at her through the mirror. She hadn't been able to admire her features face to face as she could only clearly see her eyes and one small bit of the side of her face.
