Chapter 38: The Question

Aio's POV

It was Friday our break day and Octavia had asked Sue and Octavia over to watch a movie so we were preparing the apartment for movie night I was making popcorn while Octavia was setting up the TV

"hey Aio?" Octavia asked me

"yeah?" I replied

"Who are the paladins?" she asked

"well that is more info I can't disclose to you but it's a powerful group that try to keep order" I told her I left out that it was extremely far and wide order because that would be too much plus I barely understood it myself ever since Frozo joined he periodically looked up at his forehead and talked to himself (or at least I think he talks to himself) and he also was a lot stronger

"Hey Octavia?" I asked

"What is it Aio?" she said

"well with this fight coming up I'm worried about you" I told her

"well same here" she replied

"well could you...stay on the sidelines?" I asked she looked at me surprised

"No I'm going to fight with you" she said

"I know but I'll feel better if you were safe" I told her

"well I'd feel better if I knew you were but if you're going to fight I'll fight with you" she said

"Yes but..." I start to say

"but what?" she asked

"but what if you DIE! I wouldn't be able to live with myself!" I yelled usually when I yelled she shied away but she wasn't going to submit

"WELL IF YOU DIED I WOULD KILL MYSELF!" she shouted back my eyes grew wide she continued

"I can't live without you and me staying on the sidelines would make it riskier increasing your death rate so I'm joining you to keep you safe because you usually get hurt" she told me

"alright fine but please be safe and if I do die..." I started

"YOU WON'T!" she yelled

"but if I do please don't kill yourself just if your gonna waste your life at least waste it by helping others and finish what we've started" I told her she hesitated

"ok...but let's not think about that," she said

"agreed I'm just worried about ya" I told her

"same" she said I kissed her and we went back to work.

Octavia's POV

The movie night was a success. After we said goodbye, I decided to tell him something that I should've told him long ago; it couldn't wait any longer. I walked into his room we actually ever since the first time started sleeping together but I'm getting sidetracked Aio was on his bed working on his scrapbook he was on a page with Frozo on it and a weird symbol on it that looked like a snowflake with a bolt of lightning behind it

"hey Aio I need to tell you something," I told him he looked at me

"what is it you know you can tell me" he said

"well I should've told you a lot earlier but it's about how we first met" I told her

"oh...that...look I regret following Cap'n's orders" he told me

"that's not when we first met" I admitted he looked at me confused

"two years ago I went to kill an Inkling" I told him

"why is this relevant?" he asked

"well the Inkling...that was you" I admitted his eyes grew wide

"and it delayed the fight between you and Octavio for three days so Octavio promoted me and when it was time for the fight I was leading a squad to attack you" I explained

"wait which squad?" he asked

"I'm not sure but halfway through the fight we launched our attack and you splatted everyone in it except me" I told him he looked shocked he wasn't taking this well.

Aio's POV

I remembered what happened that night

"You were the one who with the splatbrella" I said she nodded. I remembered that day clearly

*Flashback*

The Calamari Inkantation was playing they had started after I had splatted everyone except for one I had on my bamboo hat it was my favorite headgear it also had main up on every slot to maximize damage I was out for vengeance back then there was only one Octoling left besides Octavio of course it was an elite Octoling and she had three pieces of kelp on her head signifying that she was the strongest I had my Inkbrush heirloom and I was using it to get my vengeance I charged at the Octoling I jumped and swung my ink brush down at her the brella opened the brush hit the shield I was shocked the Octoling pushed me back with her Brella than it closed I was still stumbling when she shot me directly in the face knocking my hat off I was enraged.

"THAT'S IT YOU MAY HAVE KILLED MY FRIEND BUT NOW YOU TRY TO STOP MY VENGEANCE, I SHALL END YOU!!" I shouted at her and I charged.

she opened her shield and I unleashed a bewildering attack on her striking and striking harder and harder than ever before in a flurry of strikes.

Backhand, overhand, backhand, overhead, overhand, hilt strike, underhand, and overhand and finally her shield broke I tripped her with my legs and knocked her to the floor with a hilt strike I pointed my Brush at her face.

"you...you try to stop my vengeance you try and stop me from avenging her...you try and kill me at each and every opportunity...now any last words?" I asked while glaring at her she had fear in her eyes I didn't admit but she looked quite beautiful but I didn't notice

"I guess you don't" I said I drew back my weapon about to deliver the finishing blow when she looked behind me

"BEHIND YOU!" she yelled I didn't think I just did I swam to one side and rolled I looked back and there was a giant explosion after the ink settled I saw she was just fine

"OCTAVIA YOU BETRAYED OUR KIND, SECOND IN COMMAND KILL HER!" Octavio shouted.

*end of Flashback*

Octavia's POV

After I told him the part of being stabbed I continued

"well I was in your arms and I don't know what I said next but...I'm sorry for not telling you" I finished he looked at a complete lost he shut his scrapbook then he got up and walked close to me

"look I know I should've told you earlier but I just couldn't I could-" I said

"shut up" Aio said nonchalantly he then caressed my cheek with his hand

"I don't care that you didn't tell me back then...I just care that you're alive right now," he told me, I sank into his embrace. How did I get so lucky?
