ZAISHA

I sat on the terrace, looking up at the stars, while tears rolled down my cheeks.

After Abhay's outburst yesterday, I didn't feel like talking to anyone. Riya travelled to her hometown, while Dhriti stayed with Mayank as he wanted her to meet his parents.

All I could think about was Abhay's words. I had no idea that my words or actions hurt him so much.

Honestly, I didn't mean any of it. Abhay is the last person I want to hurt. Unintentionally, I did hurt him, but I'm doing all of this for him.

My mind is blank right now.

I looked down at my bracelet. Abhay thought it was just a simple bracelet. Well, maybe it is. But what he didn't read is the inscription under it.

¤forever yours¤

I smiled at it, before wiping my tears and looking up at the sky again.

"Maybe the stars shine, just to let you know that you can shine too." Daadu said, sitting beside me.

I quickly wiped my tears and looked away.

"You know, Aishi, when I was younger, I used to think that love meant bouquet of red roses and golden chains around your neck with both of your initials." My dad said, sitting on the other side.

Great, I was sitting in between them and had no way to hide my tears.

"Growing up, my definition of love started to take a different turn when I saw the way my grandpa treated my sixty-five year old grandmom. He spent hours torn between the right tie colour to wear then surprised her by painting his old Toyota hazel, the colour of her eyes. He even took her to that little restaurant at the corner of the street where they first met." Dad smiled at the memory.

"When he came back, I asked him how his day went and he smiled when he told me, "She took my remaining breath away." That's when I realized love isn't always all about buying red roses but more about choosing a sunflower because you know it's their favourite flower. It's pouring your effort into that relationship so that it grows and remains with the same heavenly glory of the very first encounter." Dad ended, and smiled at me.

I looked at both of them before asking, "How do you both know?"

"We've been through this too." Daadu smiled.

"A lot of times." Dad said, chuckling.

"Some souls just click instantly, Aishi. Whether you're lovers, bestfriends, soul mates or something else. You accept this person for everything they are, and they would never let you be anything less than your beautiful and sometimes flawed self." Dad added.

"This is how Abhay accepted you." He stated.

I looked at him; shocked.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"Well, you looked so upset, so I had to do some homework. Can't see my princess this way." Dad smiled.

I looked at him for a few more seconds before he said, "Okay, don't give me that look. Riya filled us up with the information."

All three of us stayed quiet and looked up at the stars.

"Aishi." Daadu sighed.

Looking at me, he continued speaking, "The love you deserve will choose you just as confidently as you choose it."

I didn't look at him, instead continued staring at the stars.

"The love you deserve will fight for what you have when difficulty hangs heavy in the air, it will insist that you're stronger together.
The love you deserve will support you, it will ruthlessly believe in your mind, it will celebrate your depth of feeling.
It will love you unapologetically. It will be proud of you- not just when you're a shining example, but also when you're not.
It will be your best when you're not your best, it will show up for you in the dark.
But most importantly, it'll teach you to trust the timing of your life. How to trust the fact that it will always find you.
The love you deserve will love you, even when you don't deserve it." Daadu ended.

Throughout the whole thing, I could only think about Abhay.

Each and every line daadu said reminded me of him.

"Aishi, it's not about finding someone who won't fight with you or make you sad. It's about finding the person who will be standing there wiping the tears away. The one who will never leave, no matter how hard things get. And, Aishi, you are pushing that person away." Dad said, looking at me.

"Beta, relationship is all about making it work. You can't expect an amazing relationship without any efforts, right? Abhay has put all his efforts in convincing you. But what are you doing? You're putting efforts in pushing him away." He said.

"You cannot give up without trying. That's the worst part." He stated.

I didn't have anything to say and so remained quiet.

Silence enveloped us again before daadu decided to break it.

"There will come a time in your life when you will become infatuated with a single soul. For this person you'd do anything and not think twice about it, but when asked why.... you have no answer. You'll try your whole life to understand how a single person can affect you as much as they do, but you'll never find out. And no matter how badly you hate it or how badly it hurts... you'll love this person without regret, for the rest of your life."
