Percy POV

Quest six billion and one. Well, that's what it felt like and I was going on it. Not surprising really it always seems to be me.

My original thoughts were that at least it was me over some demigods, I was immortal, I would be fine. But I couldn't have any of my friends dying in this stupid quest.

But then Apollo annoyingly brought up that three people were needed for a quest. I tried to remind him that this wasn't a normal quest, as a god was going. But Zeus wasn't having any of it.

So I'm currently waiting in the dining pavilion, for breakfast to end for Chiron to make an announcement.

This 'announcement' will be Chiron asking for two volunteers to come with me to save Aphrodite.

I know there will be plenty of volunteers, a quest is still seen as a way to prove yourself for demigods. There are tons of campers who want to be noticed by their godly parent that will throw themselves at a chance to get out and see how good they are in the real world.

But many camper's hopes for a quest were diminished when they were told the majority of the camp did not qualify to go.

"Good morning everybody, " Chiron greeted the half-bloods, "I have a very important announcement to make."

The pavilion filled with cheers.

I, however, sat glumly next to Mr D and Artemis in front of all the tables and didn't attempt to cheer along with the others. Apparently any gods had to sit at the front but that wasn't what I was bothered about.

I didn't want to go on this quest, but I definitely didn't want any demigods to go either and be put in danger. And sure that might sound stupid of me because when I was one of them, I and all my friends were constantly in danger. But I just can't risk losing anyone else, I've lost enough friends for the gods.

So I should have been happy when someone I wasn't friends with volunteered, but it just made my mood worse.

Because that person was Annabeth.

See the reason that many campers weren't even allowed to volunteer was that Zeus made a special request that only campers who had experienced a quest before could go.

So that left basically my closest friends and Annabeth.

And naturally Annabeth just had to volunteer. I wasn't sure whether she was trying to get me back or whether she was trying to get on the camps good side again but either way it angered me.

"I object. Annabeth isn't going. If you all say that I have some kind of higher authority as a god then I'm using that authority to put my foot down and say, I will not go on a quest with Annabeth chase. Find someone else."

The pavilion's chatter came to a stop. Everyone was used to me saying that I was just the same and that nobody should call me Lord or bow and that I was just as good as anyone else, but here I was embracing godhood.

Chiron looked as if he was about to let Annabeth down by telling her that she can't go anymore but then someone stepped out from behind a column of white marble.

The woman looked about in her early 30s and had brunette hair which was tied in a loose low ponytail. She wore hiking boots, dark jeans and a white blouse but despite her casual clothing, she had a regal aura. But it was her piercing cold grey eyes, which were so like Annabeth's, that helped me identify her as Athena.
