When
in the middle of the night
I wake up and sigh
you hold me
and say Don't you cry
the world hasn't ended
the sky hasn't fallen.

Look out,
out the window
even in this dark
dismayed night
there's a lamp
and there's some light
Look out o Darlin'
Look at the dance
the swirls and the twirls
your tuxedo and my pearls
the singing birds
the blooming clouds.

Look out,
see how perfect we were
in that memory of ours,
look, it's right outside the
window,
there under the streetlight,
and somehow not in here.
