It was about midnight. Alice was supposed to be sleeping. The nurses were somewhere. She was all alone. Perfect. She slipped out of bed and sneaked over to the closed door. She peered out into the hallway. The coast was clear. She made her way down the hallway. She stopped behind a corner. The nurses’ station was around it. She needed to keep going straight ahead to the stairs without anyone seeing her and taking her back to her room. Luckily, one of them showed the others something on her phone. While they looked and laughed at whatever it was, Alice stealthily snuck past them all. She continued to the stairs. She ran up them as fast as she could. She ran until she was at the top of the staircase. She opened the door and felt the wind on her face. The city looked so pretty from way up here. Too bad this would be the last time she saw it. Or anything else.

The wind blew through her hair as she stood on the edge of the roof. This was it. This was the end. It took all of her willpower to make that final decision. She jumped.
