Loki's Lament

53 10 9

Dancing with the Devil,
Don't dare make a sound.
In my darkness I do revel,
But to my halo I am bound.

When chaos begins to take control
And mischief rises free,
Don't worry, for I remain whole
Although the halo chokeths me.

The sun will rise, and fire burn
And the villains may live on
The earth will spin and you will learn
To live after I am gone.

No more tricks, I now lay there
My clothes of faded gold
My face pale, not for lack of care,
I now lay still and cold.

I don't deserve a death like this,
Nor do you deserve this fate.
But, alas, give my head a kiss
And return to being great.

You don't need me, oh Odinson,
Your cape a flaming red.
It's my time to continue on
Off to the land of dead.

I may look blue with scarlet eyes
But did we not share a mother?
Just know that as you sob and cry,
That I love you, oh my brother.

This is now my lament
For I planned to die to save you
This is my will, it won't be bent
I think that even dear Frigga knew.

Goodbye, dear Thor,
May you remain forever worthy
I will never ask for more
Than the world do well to serve thee.
