If you want to be a hero
First, there's something you must do
If you want to be a hero,
You must lose a part of you.
If you find yourself wanting
To show off heroic skill,
Then in order to be a hero
You must be prepared to kill.
If you want to be in stories,
First, a fair warning
If you want to be a hero,
You'll be alone to face the morning.
If your morals are always right,
While your friend is hardly so,
Congrats are due, for what are you?
But a perfect little hero.
If you win all of your battles
Or even if you lose
As long as you fight for what's right,
What more is there to prove?
So you fancy yourself a hero,
As the stone is soaked in blood
The call of history, across from me,
But I've almost won.
So you want to be a hero,
Thought laughs and pretty views
Well, I'll be the first in line
To tell you that's not true.
The thing about this world is
Nothing good comes from good deeds
Want the proof, want the citation?
Lay your eyes on me.
I was once that naive,
But now I load my bow
I saw the truth, I saw my end
And now I'm no hero.
I was once the protagonist,
Sweet words and sharpened sword
I was once the hero
I was a god, I was a lord.
But I learned through harsh lesson
That heroes can fall far
I learned what happens to them
And now forever hide a scar
I hide behind a frightening mask
No hero as I aim
Here to protest what you've become
Though I've got nothing more to gain.
Do you want to be a hero
WIth your legacy just begun?
Well, if you want to be a hero
Are you prepared to die like one?
Tommy, Tommy, when will you learn?
You either die fighting flames or let the world burn.
