Press, press, press. It was a chill afternoon and she had to be in an interview! God, she just wanna go home, but... work. They wouldn't cancel it because of her. It was a bad day, she wasn't in the mood to sit down and being asked about food and Julia Child (not personal, she was not feeling well). Don had to travel to finish his peace so Meryl was a little down and moody.

She entered the room and Roy was already there. He looked at her and all he could see was the pale face and big dark circles. She was looking rough.

"Hi, darling. When was the last time you slept?"

"Shut up. Anyway, good afternoon and I love you too."

"Don't say that to me! You know I love you and you are my queen."

"Can we please just hurry up?" - She sounded a little more annoyed than she meant.

"Ok, my queen. Come on."

While doing the makeup, Roy tried to light up the mood, but nothing worked. During the talk show was the same: tension and grumpiness printed on her face most of the time. Everything was going well, though. They were having fun and making jokes about Stanley's martinis. But the cool vanished when the interviewer asked Meryl about her kids.

"So, Meryl, you said something about being inspired by your mother to do this film. Do you think someday one of your children would be inspired by you? I mean, you're an artist and most part of their lives they had to live without your entire presence."

"Well, I think Don is the one who inspires and everything... He is a wonderful guy and a father. I would be happy if someday one of them sees me as an inspiration. That's it. I know I love them and did everything I could so." - She answered as calmly as possible, trying to hide her annoyance.

"Thank God, Roy. I wanna go to my home!" - She said as they entered the room to remove all the makeup.

"I see you seem more relaxed now." - He knew she was down yet, but indeed she seemed better.

"I'm happy to be able to get out of here." - They shared a laugh.

"Ok, my queen. But I need to admit my worry... you aren't on your best days. Darling, you know you can call me anytime, right?"

"Hun, I just miss my man. Yesterday I didn't sleep well... I couldn't sleep without knowing if my hubby was safe." - She was in the big chair in front of the mirror, looking at Roy, who was picking up the makeup remover.

"Darling, today you called him and now you know the big guy is fine. Promise me you gonna rest?" - He took the thing off her face.

"I will..." - she was tired.

"That's it. You can go know, miss grumpiness."

"Shut the fuck up." - She stood up and hugged her old friend.

"Bye, boy." - she left and Roy shook his head.

Hell, how she misses her boy...

Already in the house, she grabbed a bottle of wine and headed to the bathroom to take a relaxing bath. Soaked in the bathtub she was thinking about Don - maybe she could call now. He was in Japan so the time right now is not a pleasant thing to them. Since it was the night in New York, she knew he would be up. She stood up to take the cellphone.

"Hi babe!" - Don answered as soon as his phone rang

"Hi, love. I miss you sooooo much"

"Ho ho. Don't say that. I left 3 days ago!"

"Oh, so you're saying you don't miss me, sir?" - She teased

"Let me see..."

"Donald!"

"Darl, I love you and I miss you."

"You better!" - They laughed

"How was your day?"

"I had to go out, but business..." - She said almost emotionless

"See you're down..."

"No, I just wanted to stay in bed." - He noticed her shaky voice.

"Darl, what's up?"

"Don, I just miss you, my kids and mom. I'm pretty sensitive. Nothing to worry about." -  She said unconvincingly. She wasn't lying but wasn't telling everything either - she didn't mention that question about their children.

"Little Mary, tell me why..."

"I don't know, honey. Julia Child reminds me of my mommy and today I'm missing her so much. And being here without you and kids... it's the perfect moment for sadness to do its work..."

"Oh, baby, I wish I was there to hold you. I love you so much and does mom. She's with you, you know, in your heart."

"His soft voice warmed her heart."

"Man, I love you so fucking much." - She was better. He always made her feel better.

"I love you more, silly."

"I'm feeling better. Thank you, darl." She said and he heard a sniff

"Don't cry, darl. It's ok..."

"You know... I'm a heartless bitch." - She said laughing.

They spent the rest of the time talking and laughing. Meryl forgot the world. It was she and he, only.
