Kabanata 5

I navigate it to the documents to click on the powerpoint presentation that I created. It was about the language used in academic or professional disiplines, a topic for EAPP.

"You see, there are words that is used by professionals that may sound like common words but actually has different meaning when used for their professions," I started the discussion, naglalakad pa ako sa gitna para ganap na ganap.

Not because I was good but because of how I speak.

I hate how people would think that just because I'm poor, I can't speak english fluently or understand english.

"Do you have any idea what is it called?" I asked, to make them engage into the lecture.

I picked someone who raised her hand timidly. Tumayo siya para sumagot.

"Yes, Miss?" I said to make her state her name.

"Bea po. It is called as jargons," sabi niya at umupo na ulit. Tumango ako dahil tama ang sagot niya.

"Right, it is jargons. By definition, jargon are terminologies that are considered unique to a particular subject or group. It is commonly used by those who are in the same field, so they're the ones who can only understand each other. It may sound gibberish for those who are not in their field," I turned around to go to the whiteboard.

"When hearing is used by those who are practicing medicine, it means perceiving sounds. However, if it is used by those who are practicing law, it will mean as an opportunity to state one's case." I fixed the falling strands of hair on my face. "See the difference?"

Some of them nodded.

"Another example, let's say table. For most people it would be just a simple furniture, 'di ba? For Statistician though, a table shows numbers and results." I added.

"So, that ends our discussion..." sabi ko nang mapunta kami sa last slide ng ppt. "Get one fourth sheet of yellow paper, we'll have a short seatwork."

I can't help but sigh in admiration.

"Ma'am baka mahirap 'yan?" a boy asked, obviously asking for attention.

I joined the laughter of his classmates.

"Seryoso nga, magbibigay lang ako ng topic and title tapos sasagutin niyo lang kung true or false, if the topic and title are connected to each other." I told them.
