Glimpse of a Man

"Why did your body reject the blood?" tanong nito sa akin.

Napahawak ako sa aking tiyan at hinimas-himas ito. "Paano ko malalaman? Kayo ang expert dito di 'ba?" naiinis 'kong sagot. Bakit ako tinatanong niya? Wala nga akong kaalam-alam sa mga sinasabi nila.

"You're the first vampire that I met that doesn't like blood..." he trailed off.

I heard Drake let out a deep breath as he spoke. "Criselda vomited when she drank the blood I gave her," sagot nito at lumapit sa amin ni Diane.

"What do you mean? She was doing fine when she drank the blood you gave her last time," sagot pabalik ni Diane.

"That was actually diluted with wine. Did you have any reactions when you two were escaping?" tanong nito at tumingin sa akin.

"I don't think so..." sagot ko. Tumingin ako sa sahig at inisip ang mga nangyari noong tumatakas kami nina Diane. "I think I had a mild headache, but I thought that it was because of Diane's driving," sagot ko nang maalalang nahihilo ako sa sasakyan noon.

His brows once again furrowed as his right hand reached for my chin. He gripped my jaw with his cold hands as he tilted it up to see my face clearer. "You look fine," bulong nito.

"Because I am fine," pabalang 'kong sagot. Binawi ko ang mukha ko mula sa pagkakahawak ng kaniyang malamig na kamay at inilayo iyon sakanya.

Drake walked over to Diane and leaned in near her head. I saw his lips move as his deep voice spilled words out of his mouth. "Keep an eye on her," bulong nito.

Is he serious? Sa tingin ba niya ay hindi ko naririnig ang mga bulong niya? Or did he forgot that I'm also a vampire?

Tumango naman si Diane at tumingin pabalik sa akin. "You wanted to know more right. Then allow me to tell you everything," aniya at lumapit sa akin.

She jumped over to the bed and looked for a comfortable position for her to lie on. "So, where were we?" tanong nito at sumipsip sa blood bag na hawak. "Ah, screw it. I'm starting a new topic," sabi nito at umupo sa kama.

"Vampires can procreate. In the movies, you usually see them unable to make babies and it's easier for them to make vampires by turning a human into one. But, it's different when it comes to ours."

"Paanong naiba?" tanong ko.

"It's hard. You need a lot of things to turn a human into a vampire. They did that because, they said that if it's that easy to turn a human into a vampire, then the world won't be balanced. They need the world to be balanced," she paused.

"Masyadong dadami ang populasyon ng mga bampira," she looked at me and stopped. "They also said that there is a high percentage that the race of vampires will be at risk, if a human gets turned. Because, being a vampire is hard to control. The urge to drink blood, the power, your strength.
