Chapter 19

Someone Special

Nagising na lamang ako sa matinding sikat ng araw na nanggagaling mula sa bintana ng aking kuwarto. I reached to the side of my bed to check on my phone, to see if there are any important messages. After that, I placed my phone back on the bedside table and stared at the high ceiling of my room.

Isa ito sa pinakaayaw ko. Ang naiiwang mag-isa. Everytime this happens I tend to overthink a lot. I will keep on overthinking of things until I get drowned by all of my thoughts.

Sa kaunting panahon naming nagkasama ay tuluyan na talagang nahulog ang loob ko sa kaniya. Kahit ako, tinatanong ko rin ang sarili ko. Bakit nga ba? He kidnapped me, planned to kill me, then one day he just showed me a bit of kindness and then, boom, I already fell for him.

Paulit-ulit nagpapakita sa isip ko ang mga nangyari sa amin sa mga nakaraang buwan. Our romantic dates, the kiss that we shared in the gym, the way he saved me from his brother's wrath. I thought that he was sincere, but I was wrong.

Natigil ang pag-iisip ko nang biglaang may kumatok sa pintuan ng kuwarto ko. Agad akong napatingin dito at pinakita nito ang nanay ko. "Hey, sweetie. We're going to eat breakfast. Do you want to join us?" Mom asked me. Agad akong napaupo sa aking higaan at mabilisang tumango. "Okay, we'll wait for you downstairs," she said and closed the door.

I quickly got up and combed my short hair with my fingers. Tumapat ako sa salamin at inayos ang aking buhok. I walked straight to the bathroom and cleaned my face.

After my morning routine ay agad din akong bumaba at nakita ko silang lima na nasa hapagkainan na. Napatingin sa akin si Kuya Nick at agad naman ako nitong nginitian.

Umupo ako sa upuan na katabi ni Mom na upuan. "Hey, Eunice. Eat a lot," Kuya Nick told me. My brows furrowed upon hearing his request. It feels weird for someone to tell me to eat a lot.

"Bakit? Anong meron?" tanong ko.

"Oh, sweetie. Your two brothers thought that they will help you train yourself. Since, kaka-eighteen mo pa lang ay sigurado sila na hindi ka pa aware sa mga kayang mong gawin," Mom explained it to me.

"Oh," agad 'kong naalala na hindi ko pa pala nasasabi sa kanila na naturuan ako nina Drake. Their eyes are all looking at me. "Okay. H-hindi pa nga ako sanay," nauutal 'kong sagot. That was a half lie, half truth. Hindi pa naman ako gaanong kagaling gumamit, pero may mga alam na naman ako.

But, from what Dad told me, Kuya Nick and Kuya Zion are pure vampires. I already learned almost everything about my vampire side. What I need help in the most are my powers. Drake and Diane weren't able to teach me about those things, knowing that they're only a family of vampires.

We finished eating at agad namang nagsiakyatan sina Kuya Nick sa kani-kanilang mga kuwarto. "Eunice, get dressed. Maaga tayong magsisimula," ani Kuya Zion.

Tumango ako bilang sagot. Tumayo ako mula sa aking upuan at naglakad papunta sa sink. Pinuntahan ko si Mama at nakita 'kong naghuhugas siya ng mga pinggan. "Can I hel—" she cut me off.

"Go get dressed. Spend your time with your brothers, I'm fine," she said and smiled at me.

Mama looks young sa edad niya. According to Mom, medyo mahina na si Mama. She's not strong as she used to be. Pero kapag makikita mo siya ay hindi mo malalaman na nanghihina siya.

Tumango ako at hinalikan siya sa pinsge. Agaran akong umakyat sa taas para mag-ayos. I wore my usual workout outfit and tied my hair up like I always do.

I stepped out of my room and immediately as immediately greeted by Dad standung by the door. He told me that my brothers are already outside, waiting for me. Lumabas ako ng bahay at nakita sina Kuya na naka-upo sa inuupuan naming tatlo kagabi. "I'm here!" sigaw ko sa kanilang dalawa.
