Ding!
The bell on the convenience store door rang again. It was one of my last days working at the store before we had to close it.
"Can I help you with anything?", I asked a teenager that walked in.
He shook his head without saying anything and walked to the other side of the store.
I looked at the clock. 4:00 PM. I get off at 7:00, and Sehun would take over for the night shift. I felt like I should be trying to enjoy my last few minutes here, but just like any other night, I wanted to get off work.
Ding!
Another customer walked in.
"Good afternoon...", I said.
The customer walked up to me and looked at me in the eyes. He looked a little rough around the edges; he wore his hood up and kept his hands in his pockets, but his face looked young.
"Did you see a guy walk in here?", he asked quietly.
"That's really vague, you know", I said, "We have 'guys' walk in and out all the time"
He put a fake smile on his face, "Listen.", he glared, "Don't talk to me like that. Did you see a guy walk in here or not? He's a little shorter than me and he was wearing a gray hoodie with a pair of jeans"
"Oh, uh...yeah. Just there at the end by the drinks", I pointed.
The stranger turned around. "Thanks", he replied.
"No prob-", I started.
A gun shot.
The stranger pulled out a handgun and aimed it at the other customer.
"What the hell?!", I covered my ears and fell to the floor.
I peeked over the counter, suddenly seeing the two guys trying to push each other into the store shelves. It was crazy. It happened too fast. I couldn't figure out how to pull myself together.
"Na Jaemin", the young man cornered the other customer, "I finally found you"
I was freaking out. I looked around me, trying to find a way to get out without getting hurt, but there was nothing.
I put my hand on my side.
Oh, right. I had a gun, too. The one Sehun gave to me.
In a split second, I raised the handgun. I had no idea how to use it, but I aimed for the customer who was after this "Na Jaemin" guy.
Bam!
I flinched. Everything was quiet all of a sudden. I didn't want to open my eyes. What if I hit the wrong person? Or no one at all? How long did I have left to make a run for it?
I slowly opened my eyes, and saw someone standing right in front of me.
I screamed.
"Whoa, take a chill pill", the guy said.
"Just d-don't kill me", I said quietly as I kept my eyes down, "Please."
"I wasn't planning on it"
I forced myself to look into guy's eyes.
"So, what do you want?", I asked as I studied his face. He was young, maybe even my age.
"I want you to get out of here", he said, "You got yourself into a big mess. You should get home before anything else happens"
I nodded slowly.
"Oh...wait", the boy looked at the handgun I was holding, "You're with EXO?", he asked.
My head shot up. "H-How'd you know?"
"The logo on your handgun"
"O-Oh"
"You're new then?"
"Why does it matter?", I forced myself not to sound as scared as I really was, "You're not one of us"
"Yeah, but Kai is in EXO, too", he pointed at the guy I just shot. That's right: the guy I just shot.
I cupped my hand over my mouth.
"He's fine", the guy continued.
"You sure?"
He nodded.
"Then, who are you", I glared.
"Na Jaemin", he replied, "I'm with NCT Dream"
"Oh, YOU are NANA?"
Hey, ya'll! I hope you're liking the book so far. Tbh, I haven't hit "writer's block" yet, but I feel like my chapters have been a little dry lately. I definitely feel a different sort of writing style with this book compared to my last one. Feel free to message me if you have any recommendations! As always, happy readin', friends!
