I've decided to use this chapter as a test run for something, but you probably won't notice. I hope it goes well because it'll be a challenge.

"Are you sure I should be here? Y/n, I want to go back!" Bassui yelled in the midst of his mental breakdown.

The game was in our own gym, so at least he didn't have the bus ride to overthink even more. He had thrown himself to the floor which is hands covering his tear filled face. I was having trouble comforting him because I'd never been this way, but no one else was stepping up so it was on me.

"Hey, you'll amazing. I don't know a single first year who hasn't felt this way." It was only a half lie I'd given him with my hand rubbing his back. Most first years I knew were able to swallow their fear and replace it with a false ego as the other three were doing at this very moment.

He shoved his head hard into the ground, but didn't show any sign of pain from the impact. "I cannot do this! I want to go home!" He must've ignored me completely, so I tried a more attention grabbing tactic.

"You idiot. Get up now. We've got a game to play with or without you and I am almost completely sure you did not come just to sit on the floor and cry." I told him blandly and recoiled my comforting hand.

Kuroo sent me a shocked look overhearing what I'd said past the conversation he was having with a first year about his technique. I waved his look off and continued beating Bassui down verbally, "You'll never amount to anything with this timid attitude of yours. Do you want to be a failiure living off of mommy's money all your life?" I pushed all the buttons I knew he had.

Takagi had begun trying to get me stop through a series of glares and whispers. He and Bassui are close because they came from the same school, so I knew his protective instincts over the shy boy I was teasing were raging inside of him.

"Do you really think I'll end up like that?" Bassui whimpered softly.

"N-"

"Yes. This is your first step to being independent and an adult." I cut Takagi off with my bland tone.

Bassui sniffled and sat up with a stern nod more towards himself than anyone, "I can do this."

"You can do this." I shifted to niceness in an instant.

As soon as we'd gotten Bassui dried up, the team we were playing came in. I met eyes with a familiar person and grinned, "Chigaya." I shook his hand with an endearing smile.

Chiaya is a bland guy, but we met briefly in the last practice match against Shinzen. He still looked the same, but he offered a pained smile, "Our first years are quite possibly the worst. I apologize if we don't have much of a fight to give you yet."

"I'm sure you'll get there." I winked and he grinned at me before we went to our sides to ready our teams for the upcoming match.

"I heard you told Bassui that this is a major game. You aren't going to correct yourself and make sure he knows it's just a practice?" Kuroo muttered with a satisfied smirk on his face probably because I was pushing the kid so hard.

"What he doesn't know won't hurt him." I put my hand on Kuroo as I passed him to get to the team with a look of fire filled passion that seemed to frighten all four of the new kids that weren't already used to it.
