Narrator's pov

It was the type of coldness that reached into your bones, as if your heart were a door left wide open to the icy wind, slamming only to open again. The only thing to do was keep moving, keep heading toward home and the steady warmth of the hearth.

The morning was normal, the sun appearing in the clouds and no form of rain or snow. But the fallen afternoon was different for them.

The sky was rolling blankets of cloud the colour of wet ash, and the ground its dank reflection. Each step became a prayer for home as people walked, seeing the light from the doorway in their flickering daydreams, letting it become more real than the stormy night.

Kate shuddered and pulled her robe closer to her chest, the girl was already drenched in her sweater, pajamas and socks but a robe was the only thing keeping her warmish.

Her feet touched the wide marbled staircase of the mansion as she gripped the wooden balcony, slowly taking steps to the first floor

Autumn was no where in sight but the lights of house were still on, Kate couldn't bring herself to sleep in the new room since she was still missing her partner in crime but curiously still pulled her from her room

She'd been so accustomed to living with her roommates, her old apartment was loud. Music was always blasting in her friend's room and no matter how much she yelled for them to lower the volume, she secretly liked listening to it on a calm night in her bed with a lamp and good book to snuggle up to

Ethan was always gaming, yelling at himself for failing a new alcohol mix or being the dumbass he is and danced around the apartment for no reason

Jamie was always like a mother in the apartment, vacuuming day and night. The noise almost gave Kate a headache but she had grew so accustomed to the girl vacuuming exactly 8pm every night then yelling at Ethan for not cleaning up his messes

They were all family in that house and they spent every second of each day with each other. So on this first day of moving into a new house with so much space, Kate felt alone.

She felt alone in an ocean and too tired to swim. She was alone in a big house since Autumn gave zero fucks if she existed

Her socks touched the flat tiled floor and felt a cold send right through her feet, Kate hissed at the feeling and hugged her robe even tighter

Her dark brown eyes scanned the entire room below the staircase, Autumn was still nowhere in sight, she didn't even have any way to contact the girl of something happened. They still hadn't spoken since the meeting on May's office

Kate's eyes then glanced at the dark grey wall, posters were all lined through out the house of movies and shows that Autumn appeared in

Kate stepped closer, her fingertips barley brushing against the wooden frame of the tall poster that lit up

It was a picture of Autumn braced against a white wall, her hands shoved in her pockets and her blue eyes seemed even deeper than they were. The girl was wearing a tight suit as a tall man gripped her tie, forcing her to face him.

There was a tall glass trophy that was bolted to the wall, Kate assumed it was brought in and set up when she was upstairs.

The golden trophies glistened under the golden chandelier lights of the room. Kate's eyes sunk into her skull and her mouth left hallow as she stared at the trophies. Autumn had won awards for different categories and films. The golden glove awards rested next to her academy awards trophy, below were the girl's national film, critics and independent spirits awards.
