Your POV

You wake up, this time your body was set in motion before even you had a chance to comprehend anything. Everyone in the underground had forgotten about you, or so you thought. You quickly get dressed and make your way to the end of the ruins, you open the door and let the cold winter air caress your body. It wasn't that long till you were to reach snowdin once again. You continue to walk each step making an imprint in the snow, until suddenly you couldn't bear to take another step. The silence of the forest around you echoed in your mind, you couldn't help but remember all of the good times you had with everyone before you had to reset. You didn't even know if the reset fixed everything or if it had just caused people to forget you. You felt...lost... not the type of lost like you're somewhere you don't know, but the type of lost where you don't know how to feel or what to do. You couldn't help but think about Chara, she wanted a reset, and you gave her 2 already, was she satisfied? Was this all just some big elaborate game to make you feel this way? Is she the reason why everything is so silent that it's suffocating? You were broken from your thoughts when you heard a familiar voice.

"So...How does it feel? Being trapped alone with your own thoughts." It was Chara, once again, the only person who you dreaded hearing from. This time however you had some questions for her.

"Its actually quite peaceful, I kind of like it."

"I can see right through you Y/N, your hurting even if you won't admit it yourself." She was right you are hurting, not just from people not remembering you, but from the fact that you can remember everything.

"Why are you here anyway? You got your resets, 2 of them in fact, what more could you possibly want?"

"You remember everything don't you? All of the torment I put you through with just one messily flashback?" You nod. "Good... well as much as I want go on with my life... I need your help. Apparently showing you that flashback d̵̘̎i̶̡͈̥͂̀d̷̪͍̲͗ ̶̼͖́̓̃s̴̡̎̓̌ő̸̦͝͝m̵͖̬͌̄̒e̷̹͑t̸͖̕̕ȟ̴̼̪̫̈͝i̶̜͌n̸̨͕͊̐͗g̶͖̐ ̵̥͖̀͐̕w̴̜̌i̵̧̜̻͗͗͒ṱ̶̃̽h̴̩̍ ̷̠̝̻̾͒̅t̴͎̦̉ͅh̷̯̙͚̃̄ẽ̸̱̀̽ ̴̹̈̋c̷̗̱͚̈́o̶̢̹͗̆ḍ̵͙͌̄ë̸̝͉̃ ̶̬́̕[̷̖̩̏Ç̴͒͝h̴͎̮̊ͅȁ̷̧̖̿͆ͅn̵̜̬̣̈́͝g̷̖̍͘͠i̷̞̮̿n̸̙͒g̵̛͆̓͜ ̶̤̄̈́R̷̖͓͊͐ȇ̸̜͒̎s̷̭̦̼͠p̸͈̹̽o̵̧̞͒ñ̸̞͍͇̀́s̴͌͌ͅe̵͎͙̿̑.̶͖͉̺̉̑͘.̴̥͕͎͌͑.̸̺̘̈́̀]̸̗͈̥̓̾ did something with my head. "The CORE? What's that?"

"Even I don't know much about it, all I know is that it provides electricity to people in the underground." You nod your head, you never thought about how the monsters got electricity, but this opens a whole world of possibility.

"Wait a second, first off, how can you remember who I am after I resetted?"

"As someone who lives their life in/through resets, it's very easy to remember." You thought for a moment, you guessed this made sense. After all, she did encourage a reset.

"Secondly, why can't you just check yourself? I mean, you have a body." She angrily grunts.

"Well I wish that I could, sadly your the only one with a strong human soul, I may have a body but I don't have as strong of a soul as you do, and secondly this." She holds out her hand, you look at it then back at her, by the looks of it she's...disappearing.

"How...How are you..."

"Disappearing? Well I think it's because of all of these resets, too many resets too much power, a physical body can't handle this power. I don't even know why I'm telling you this. Just come with me, I-we- don't have enough time to waste asking pointless questions."

You and Chara were standing in front of The Core. You looked up at it in awe, it was amazing to see such innovative technology in the Underground, you wish you could meet the person who made it. But Chara was right, something seemed off about this place almost as if there was some sort of foul presence in the air and around you. Suddenly you felt a chill run up your spine causing you to look to your left, there in the corner was a...skeleton? He wore all black at least that's what it looked like from the back.

"H-Hello?" You call out to the skeleton. No response. You nudge Chara, causing her to groan and look at you, you didn't know what she was so irritated after all she was the one who recommended that you two come here in the first place. "Can you try talking to him, I don't think he hears me." She sighs.

"Hey you, Bonehead. My Fri-Enem-" She coughs. "Acquaintance... is talking to you." She says the last part with a hint of annoyance.

"I heard you...But I mustn't speak much." You look at him confused, why would he not be able to speak much.

"Who...Who are you?" You ask your voice quivering in fear.

"I'm.." He spells about his name using his hands. Gaster. That's what his hands spelled out, you assumed that he wasn't from around here, you didn't know of a single monster that would speak in hands.

"Where did you come from?" He points towards The Core, a black mist like substance oozing out. You wanted to question him more but by the time you turned your head back he had already vanished.

"Chara, I have a bad feeling about this black mist that is surrounding The Core, it seems to be...growing." She chuckles and looks at you as if you just told the worlds most funniest joke. Her face turns a little more serious when she realizes that you weren't laughing with her.

"So what, it's just some black stuff, it doesn't seem to be hurting you or I. I think it's harmless, regardless we need to find that...Gaster." You nod your head and the two of you walk away from The Core, not knowing where to start you little investigation to find the monster.

Little did you know that the "Mist" would actually lead to the demise of the Underground.
