Chapter 40

It's starting. The war is starting." 

Nobody was able to move. They expected this, but they can't help but feel nervous, shock, and... scared.

"We have no time, we should ready the students. Victoria, Liam, and Ivy, you go and ready the students. Ella and Tin, you come with me." 

"Si Aeron?" tanong ni Ivy. 

"We don't know but if you see him, tell him. Kailangan na maghanda." Tumango sila sa sinabi ni Aria. 

"Wala ba si Aidan?" Liam asked. Kalmado ito pero habang nakikita na medyo umiiba timpla ng mukha ng mga babae, hindi niya mapigilan na hindi mag-alala!

"No, he went to the council."

"Shit. Alam na ba ito ng council?" 

Umiling siya, "No. We'll send the signal. Let's move!"

Kaagad na tumalima ang tatlo at nagkatinginan silang naiwan. "Let's go." 

Ramdam ni Aria na kunti lang ang papalapit. Hindi niya alam kung bakit pero kahit ganoon, may kakaiba rito. They went to the academy's entrance gate. The miasma there is very heavy and thick. Mas madilim din ang langit banda roon. 

Habang tumatagal, mas lumalapit ang tambol at may mga anino silang nakikitang papalapit.

"Kanina pa ba 'yang tambol na 'yan?" 

"Yes." 

"Shit, why didn't I heard it?" Ella cursed. 

"Are you ready?" Aria asked the two.

"Yes," Tin replied. 

"We don't have a choice," Ella said while shrugging. Nang maramdaman ang titig ni Tin, "What? I'm just saying the truth."

Sasagot pa sana si Tin ng tumigil ang tambol. Everything was so quiet. Na pati hangin nahiya ng gumawa ng tunog. Walang nagsalita sa kanila. They waited for something to happen but nothing happened.  Mabibigat ang mga hininga nila. Their hearts are rapidly beating as if they run in a triathlon. Pinakiramdaman nila ang paligid. Ella closed her eyes and listened to the wind. She can hear footsteps, metals bumping to each other, and growl... for blood lust. 

"Hmm, what a surprise. You were expecting us?" 

Sabay silang napatingin sa nagsalita. It was a man with a big grin in his face. Nakaramdam kaagad sila ng tensyon sa paligid. The man in front them screams power and danger. Alam nilang hindi ito basta bastang tao.  

This man is near to immortality. 

"It's been a while since I last saw this academy. Was it 60 years? 80?"

Hindi umimik sila Aria, Ella at Tin. They were just looking at the man and his men not far from them. Hindi nila alam kung ano ang nasa isip ng mga ito at kung kailan sila susugod. They need to be ready and alert. 

Nagpatuloy ito sa pagsasalita habang nakangiti at hindi pinansin ang mga titig ng tatlo sa kaniya. He's used to those eyes, full of judgments and hate.  

"I wasn't really welcome here," he said while looking at the main building and smiled, "But it was fine! Hindi ko naman kailangan mag-aral ng mahika at makisalamuha sa mga taong puno ng poot at galit sa akin." 

"That's because you and your men are evil," Aria said. Hindi na niya mapigilan na magsalita. Why is this man sharing his experience with how the people here in Sahuriya act towards him? Hindi siya karapatdapat na lapitan.
