"Of course you like her"
I just looked at Bones with a smirk.
"She's like you in a lot of ways"
"Oh you mean smart, dashingly handsome and loyal?"
well, not exactly
He wiggleg with his eyebrows
"No, I mean sarcastic and a pain in the ass"
"You forgot my constant negativity"
"You're right, I did."
I gave the doctor a pat on his shoulder and went after Sarah.
Sarah POV
"And again, I am so very sorry. I hope you Pad is okay?"
The brunette in front of me just smiled
Why do I keep running into people damnit
"Yeah,all good. Please stop apologizing, it was my fault as much as it was yours."
"I'm so-" I bit my lip to stop myself from saying sorry yet again.
"So what's your name?" i asked instead.
"Uhura. And you are?"
"Hi, I'm Sarah"
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Jim walking towards us and waved him over.
"Uhura, have you met my Jim?"
The young woman looked at Jim with raised eyebrows, while he just stood there with a weird smile.
"Yeah, we've met." Uhura broke the awkward silence.

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't take you for one of his... conquests"
"She's actually the girl from the bar, before I got recruited", Jim explained to me.
Say whaaaat
"No shit it is so very nice to finally meet you!"
The brunette was surprised by my response, but then started to laugh
"Sorry, Sarah, but I have to get going. Maybe I'll see you some other time"
She smiled at me and made her way to the main building, completely ignoring Jim.

"Well, that was great" Jim grinned
"I think I'm in love" I watched her enter the building
"Why doesn't that surprise me..."
My best friend just grinned at me
"No seriously, she's great!"
"Some say this, some say that"
Cry me a river
"Oh god please don't start crying just because she doesn't fall for you", I teased him lovingly.
"Nah, I don't cry in front of others"
No, of course you don't

I decided to go for a stroll through the campus in the afternoon. Jim was in one of his classes, so I was bored. I started at the park that was connecting the main building with the living quarters and then entered the main building.
While making my way through one of the hallways I could hear a young man's voice.
"I just can't get this into my head. Why can I not get this into my head?"
His russian accent was impossible to miss.
"sometimes it helps to talk to someone about the topic in order to learn and memorize it."
He looked up, surprised not to be alone in the hallway.
Jeah you go Sarah, sneeking up on people
"I'm sorry, I couln't help but overhear you."
"Oh that's okay" he smiled a very cute smile
I found another goofball
"may I?" I pointed at the space next to him on the bench.
"Yes, of course" the young man tried to gather his things in order to make some space for me to sit down, but half of it just fell to the ground.
Gosh he's almost as clumsy as I am
He started to collect his things from the floor and mumbled something under his breath
I rushed to help him pick up his stuff
"What was that you just said under your breath?"
"Oh nothing" he made a derogatory hand movement
You're not getting away that easily
"It sounded something like 'nublushi'?"
The young man had to hold back a laughter
"Not exactly. It's 'neuklyuzhiy', russian for a clumsy person"
I frowned
"What?" the Cadett looked at me confused
"It just.. It still sounds like 'nublushi'"
I couldn't help but laugh and it didn't take too much time for him to join in.
"'nublushi' it is"
Oh wow, he's really sympathetic...
"So am I supposed to call you that?"
What a smooth transition, props to you, Sarah
"Well I mean you could. But my name is actually Pavel Chekov"
"Okay then, Chekov, what is it you need to memorize?"
My new friend spent what seemed like hours trying to explain to me how a warp core worked and what the dangers and advantages of the different draftings were.
When he finally came to an end, I looked at him with a big grin on my lips.
"Well, Pavel Chekov, I think you are now an expert on the topic of warp cores."
The Cadett began to smile a bright smile and his eyes began to sparkle.
"Yes, yes I am!"
He broke into a full on victory dance and i just watched him, laughing at his dorky moves.
