My babies!!! They're meeting :) The scene in season one when Melissa got stood up by Peter and was sobbing in the car is in my mind daily and I'm so fucking excited for this!!

Fifteen years ago
Ostara was in a small town in California now. Beacon Hills. She liked small towns. Just a few weeks ago she had been in another part of California. Kol had found her after about a hundred years. He had told her about everything that went on in Mystic Falls. The constant family drama because of a doppelgänger. Ostara was relieved to hear their dad had passed by Nikalus's hand, though. She was aware of him being 'put down' by that coven. But now he was really gone. Kol had yet to find Lucien, partly because of all the drama, partly because he feared the eccentric vampire had moved on. The same fear that rung in the back of his mind after he came back from every dagger-induced sleep.
When Kol had almost died by the Gilbert boys hands, he immediately left town. He had found out his brother, in fact, did not know about their plan. But he did not want to stick around to be another dead sibling. He didn't want to be around when Silas came to town either. So, Kol got ahold of some witches to find his sister. It took him a few weeks like usual, but he tracked her down and luckily she was in the same country as him.
Kol had to be the one to tell Ostara of Finn's passing. Ostara was heartbroken and furious. Niklaus could have went and got her then. When their siblings were all awake. Their petty nine-hundred year spat could be over. But he didn't. And apparently he didn't even properly avenge his older brother either. Ostara couldn't imagine what Finn was going through, being asleep so long, and she wasn't there to help him for the short amount of time he was back. Of course he would have acted rashly. He was confused and hurt. Ostara got the names from Kol and made sure to send some vampires after the people that were responsible for her little brothers death.
Ostara and Kol stayed together for awhile. They caught up, grieved, and Ostara taught him even more about the modern world. Kol was much like a child when presented with new things so he was ecstatic. Ostara eventually convinced Kol to reach out to Lucien. She did the tracking spell herself. And so, Kol was off to go find his lover. Ostara was alone once again but she didn't mind too much. Besides her family, she hadn't really connected with anyone ever. Even when she was human. She had other focuses and people often found Ostara overbearing with her protective motherly nature.
She decided with her parents out of the way, she'd settle in a little town for a few years. Her siblings no longer needed her protection and it seemed none of them were interested in finding her. She ended up finding a cute house in Beacon Hills. Ostara was sure Rebekah would have liked it. She also decided to sign up to work at an elementary school as a kindergarten teacher. Ostara had done a few jobs over the many years. Mainly though, she liked to rescue slaves and inconspicuously aid in wars. Whenever she did this, it took a lot of planning on her part. And she had to plan it around keeping tabs on her siblings, her father, and keep her father off her siblings trail.
