Avery and I had been sitting in his car drowning in awkward silence. The radio was on but it was more of a background noise because it was soft, just enough to fill the awkward of the car.

I sighed and went to pull out my phone my jeans pocket. I gasped when I didn't feel the device in my pockets and I realized I left my phone on my bed.

"Avery, I don't have my phone." I turned to look at Avery with a pout on my face.

"Good." He glanced at me. "You're not gonna need it anyway." He brushed it off and looked back out the windshield at the road ahead.

I grumbled incoherent words to myself, which truly didn't even make sense to me, and I looked away from Avery.

I stared out of the window for a couple of seconds before I found myself looking back at Avery.

He was biting his lip unconciously while keeping one of his hands on the steering wheel, tapping his thumb rhythmically to the beat of the song that was playing and his other arm was out of the open window. His eyes weren't hard and narrowed and his lips weren't pulled in the usual straight line that was always on his face.

My eyes ran over his fingers that were on the steering wheel. I noticed the gold ring on his thumb like the two gold ones I had. That was his ring like Tyler's one that said 'Príncipe' but the ring isn't what I was looking at. I was looking at Avery's finger nails that were painted with nail polish. His middle finger was painted dusty pink and the rest of his nails were painted black.

I looked away again when Avery glanced at me from the corner of his eyes. I went back to staring out the window and Avery went back to staring out the windshield.

I didn't know how long we'd been in the car after that but I started getting fed up when Avery would glance at me for a quick second and when I looked back at him, he'd turn away.

I finally gave in and huffed, looking at Avery, "Do you need help with something?"

Avery narrowed his eyes at the road and glanced at me, his eyes still narrowed and his lips pulled into a thin line. "Nothing." He said gruffly.

The car was emerged in silence again and I went back to staring out the window.

I couldn't deal with the awkward silence but the stubborn side of my would not allow me to talk first. Instead, I sat in my seat and twiddled my thumbs awkwardly.

I started getting annoyed again when Avery would start glancing at me every second again and then he would quickly look away when I looked at him. The second time it happened was even more annoying than the first.
