A New Crush

(A couple days later)

"Alright class I know we didn't start on Monday, but starting today and for the next few weeks we're gonna be doing dance." The gym teacher was telling them.

"Great my favorite thing." Ben whispered to Mal sarcastically. 

Mal smiled and rolled her eyes and slightly nudged Ben. Ben smiled back, then they looked back at the teacher.

"So everyone needs to partner up. A boy and a girl. Then in a few weeks we will perform together as a class." The teacher finished saying. "Now get with a partner.

"So you want to..." Mal was going to ask Ben, but then looked behind at someone walking in.

"Oh hold class." The teacher said. "I forgot to mention we have a new student joining our class. Would you like to introduce yourself?" 

"Sure." He replied. "Hello my name's Cody. I'm here until my dad gets transferred again so..." 

"Well thank you, Cody and welcome to our school. We're doing dance. So find a partner and we'll get started."

"Well he seems chill. Anyways you want to be my..." Ben said.

Mal was still looking at Cody, then he started walking towards her. 

"Hey there." Cody greeted them. 

Ben looked back, then turned around to face him. "Hey."

"I was gonna ask if she wanted to be my partner, but it seems like you guys are already partners." Cody explained.

"Yeah we're most likely going to be." Ben responded.

"Actually Ben, Evie's over there. You can be her partner. I'll work with the new kid." Mal told Ben and smiled at Cody.

"Or Evie could be his partner." Ben suggested.

"Ben." Mal said and gave Ben a look.

"Fine." Ben gave in. He started walking to Evie and rolled his eyes.

"So do you and your family move around a lot?" Mal questioned.

"Yeah. We never really stay in one place for very long." Cody answered. "So what are we supposed to be doing?" 

"Hey Evie need a partner?" Ben offered.

"I thought you'd be working with Mal." Evie replied.

"She wants to work with the new kid." Ben told her.

"Yeah he is pretty cute." Evie smiled.

Ben looked at her not pleased.

"Sorry." Evie said looking down. "Yeah I'll be your partner."

"So you're sure it's okay for us being partners?" Cody checked.

"Yeah. Why wouldn't it be?" Mal replied asking.

"Well I just don't want to make your boyfriend mad." Cody answered.

"Oh he's... He's not my boyfriend." Mal told him blushing a little.

"Really? He kinda seemed like he was." Cody mentioned.

"No he's my best friend." Mal said.

"Oh. Do you have a boyfriend?" Cody wondered.

"N-no." Mal said blushing more and smiling nervously.

"Oh." Cody said nodding. "Girlfriend?" 

"Nope." Mal shook her head.
