Chapter 68: A New Addition

"Ugh," she groaned as the alarm went off, she turned around and smashed it on the floor. Maisey sighed and nuzzled back into bed.
"We have to get out," Keith said from beside her and she groaned once more not wanting to leave the bed.
"Noooooo," she said annoyed as she pulled the blankets up even higher.
"Yes, we have to go to your sister remember?" He said as he sat straight, she opened her eyes as she saw the muscles in his back tighten.
"Oh yeah, she had some sort of important news for us," Maisey said as she watched him get out of bed. She smiled when she noticed his bedhead, butterflies filling up in her stomach. Sometimes she'd still remember how it all began and she'd smile actually feeling old since so much happened since that time.
"Maybe they're divorcing," Keith said as he looked over his bare shoulder to Maisey who frowned at him.
"No, why would you say that?" Maisey asked as she sat up and pulled the blankets to her chest.
"Avrigg might be your sister, but you're forgetting that I spend two years with her and my mother when we went to the colony," Keith said, "I've learned that Avrigg is extremely insecure and I wouldn't be surprised if they got in a fight and she chickened out. I hope not of course."
"She might be insecure but she's not a coward," Maisey said, "clearly you didn't learn enough about her."
"I did saw a lot of her memories as we went to the colony, we could see each others memories and well... that's how she figured out I had feelings for you," Keith said as he pulled a t-shirt over his head.
"Really?" Maisey asked, "and neither of you bothered to tell me?"
"Of course not, that's bro talk," Keith said with a smirk on his face knowing that he was getting on Maisey's nerves like that.
"Bro talk?" She repeated, "I don't even wanna know."
"Get out of bed now, lazyhead," Keith said as he threw his pants in her face, "we don't have all day."
"I'm keeping these," Maisey said as she wrapped her arms around his pants, "there is no way you're getting them."
She hid herself under the blankets whilst holding onto Keith's pants, she heard him running towards the bed.
"I will get them back," he said as he jumped on top of her and started to tickle her. She started to laugh as he crawled under the blankets and tickled her, with all her might she held onto the pants as tears were rolling down her cheeks.
"Keith, stop it!" She exclaimed, she noticed how he bit his lower lip as he was tickling her. Finally she released his pants and he threw them on the floor before surprising her with a passionate kiss. She smiled into the kiss as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Finally," Avrigg said as she opened the door, "you were supposed to be here thirty minutes ago."
"Sorry, we got held up," Maisey smiled innocently. Avrigg quirked a brow at her younger sister as they made their way to the living room. Keith and Maisey sat down on the couch as Avrigg sat across from them in one of the chairs.
"Where's Romelle?" Keith asked as he leaned back. Avrigg smiled as she crossed her legs.
"Just upstairs, she'll be here in a minute," Avrigg said as she diverted her attention back to her sister.
"Why do you have your extremely serious face on?" Maisey asked as she narrowed her eyes.
"Yeah, you're being awfully mysterious," Keith said as he also got his serious face on, "what is this big news?"
Avrigg smirked slightly as she opened a drawer. Maisey frowned and shot Keith a confused look who simply returned it with a confused look of his own. Avrigg pulled out an enveloppe and handed it to Maisey. Keith leaned in closer and looked over her shoulder.
"Open it," Avrigg demanded. Maisey sighed as she ripped the enveloppe open and took the handwritten letter out.

Dear Tiny and Keith,
I am glad to call you my family and as you will probably be confused by the secracy right now I assure you it's only wonderful news. We have a large family. We've got you two, Lance, Hunk, Pidge, Shiro, Vryss, Romelle, Matt, Sam, Colleen and Coran of course.. but we also have those who we've lost; Allura, Adam and of course our mother. And even if they can't be here today they will always be with us.. but Romelle and I have recently made a latest addition to that family. It took us months but a couple of days ago we finally adopted a beautiful, Altean baby and that makes you two her aunt and uncle.

"No?" Maisey asked as her eyes welled up with tears.
"Yes, you're an aunt," Avrigg said as she turned her glance to Keith, "and you're an uncle."
Keith seemed shocked as he took the letter from Maisey and reread it, like he didn't believe that it was true.
"Really? I'm an aunt?" Maisey cried out, "and you're a mother?"
"Yes, I am a mother and you are an aunt," Avrigg smiled as she waved towards someone behind them. Maisey quickly turned around and saw Romelle holding a tiny baby in her arms.
"That's her?" Maisey asked as she quickly made her way to Romelle, curious about her little niece.
"Yes, do you want to hold her?" Romelle asked. Maisey quickly nodded as she took the baby from Romelle's arms. A tiny person was peacefully asleep in her arms, Maisey was astonished.
"What's her name?" Maisey asked as she looked up to the two new parents. Romelle and Avrigg looked at each other and smiled.
"Cassie Carynne Egan," Romelle said softly. Maisey's heart skipped a beat as she heard her mothers name. Cassie was short for Cassiopeia.. Carynne was Maisey's middle name.. she was.. shocked.
"You named her after mom and me?" Maisey asked as she started to cry again.
"Uh, I'll take her before you explode into tears," Keith said as she gently took the baby from Maisey's arms and held his niece in his own.
"Yes, we did," Avrigg said. Maisey jumped up and hugged Romelle and Avrigg tightly.
"Congratulations guys, you're going to be amazing parents," Maisey cried out, "I can't stop crying."
"Thank you Maisey," Romelle and Avrigg said as they hugged her. Maisey wiped away her tears and as she looked up she saw Keith holding onto the sleeping baby. He had a big smile upon his face as Cassie held onto his pinky, it was the sweetest thing she'd ever seen. She hoped that one day, she could see him like that with their own child.. but sometimes she wondered if Keith wanted that. Everything was working out great for the couple but she couldn't help but wonder if he... wanted to go there with her.
"I think I'm just going to put her back to bed before she wakes up for her food," Romelle said as she quickly jumped up and walked over to Keith. He slowly gave her Cassie with a big smile upon his face.
"Maisey, do you want to help?" Romelle asked, Maisey quickly nodded all excited to watch her niece sleep in her own little bed. She leaned over and kissed Keith before following Romelle upstairs.

Keith's pov:

He waited several seconds until he was sure Maisey could not hear him talk. Keith folded his arms, trying to look serious but he couldn't help but smile. Avrigg leaned in as she rested her arms on her knees, she frowned curiously awaiting for Keith to speak.
"You called me earlier this week, requesting to talk to me alone without Maisey and Romelle around," Avrigg said stern, "what is it that you need tell me?"
"Not so much telling you, more asking you," Keith said softly as a blush rised on his cheeks, "Maisey does not have a real father figure.. and you are her last real family.."
"Yes?" She questioned slightly confused. Keith's heart was racing, he could feel it pump in his throat. He honestly didn't understand why he was so nervous...
"I wanted to ask for your permission," Keith said as he took a small box out of his pocket, "to marry Maisey."
"You're serious?" Avrigg asked as a smile grew upon her face, "you want to marry my sister?"
"More than anything in the universe," Keith said and he blushed, "I knew it since your wedding.. seems silly since she puked all over me. But I really want to marry her, start a family with her.. I've never been so sure of anything in my life before.. do.. do I have your permission?"
"You silly guy," Avrigg laughed, "of course you have my permission, I just called you the uncle of my child... you are already family Keith. I know you'll make her happy."
"Thank you," he said relieved.
"So, how are you going to ask her?" Avrigg asked curiously.
"I've had a plan for that for years now," Keith said calmly, "you'll see."
