My Second Chance
My heart had been filled with sorrow,
For a long time had no path to follow,
Joy, love, happiness had to borrow,
My face always had a furrow.
I'm not sure if it's my designated fate,
That I'm almost always late,
Finding myself always in a bate,
But my life I couldn't hate.
Everything seemed to be a balloon,
Ready to burst any time soon,
And any time I looked at the moon,
With hope my heart would it swoon.
I felt so broken, so shattered,
I had really been battered,
Fighting for things, for people that mattered,
I was completely tattered.
Though dim was my light,
I still believed it could be bright,
And try with all might,
Was I willing to fight.
Broken, yet lucky I was to get a second chance,
Strong and firm was my stance,
Like a warrior holding his lance,
'cause life had given me a second dance.
My second chance was a person,
Pushing on gave me a new reason,
Renewed was my season,
To my life never again commit treason.
I was lost, but me had he found,
To him was I completely bound,
For his confidence in me was a mound,
My new standing ground.
Everyday he'd offer a whisper of hope,
That for life I shouldn't mop,
And though sometimes life would be a slope,
With him I would never flop.
For once life had been kind,
Clear now was my previous tattered mind,
Sure that my path I'd always find,
And any challenge would I grind.
He was my color maroon,
My second chance bright as the moon.
