Wilbur twiddled his thumbs as he paced around the room. His phone sat on his table. "Alright, think out loud," Phil said from the phone. They were on a FaceTime call, Wilbur over working himself.

"What if she says no?" Wilbur mumbled. He continued pacing, picking at the skin around his thumb.

"I doubt she will," Phil replied quickly. "Even if she does, it's not like she's gonna cut you off. You guys are good friends and if that's how it's meant to be, then so be it."

"Yeah, but I don't want her to think it's a date. I don't want to date her, I just want to spend more time with her instead of it all being through a screen," Wilbur explained. He dug into the skin further, not realizing that small trace of blood coming out.

"Then you have nothing to worry about!" The man shouted. "Listen, just text her! She isn't gonna be mad, she isn't like that."

"How would you know?"

"How wouldn't I know? How wouldn't anyone know? Elinor is super nice. Stop worrying so much."

Wilbur suddenly noticed the small ping of pain and looked down at his hand. Holding his hand underneath his now bleeding thumb, he mumbled, "Fine." Phil nodded, telling him to take care, and then ended the call.

The boy left his phone there and sighed as he went to clean off his finger.
