arg the fact that you have to take one language course to pass high school but it has to be Spanish, French, or Mandarin is so annoying :/

like, I'm already planning on overloading my schedule with psychology courses (I want to be a gender therapist when I grow up)
the way my school works, you can take high school math and English as early as 8th grade to free up slots in your senior year so you can take courses at the two bigger schools down the road, which is pretty epic
but you HAVE to learn a language >:( they offered language courses last year but obviously, I'm not gonna take them, if anything I want to learn Russian or Dutch

but I don't understand why you have to learn one of those three :/
lets say you take Spanish and learn the language because you're moving to Mexico. guess what? most people speak English :O
and I think its good to know about a few main phrases, like "can I have one beer" "where is the bathroom" and "I didn't know this was your girlfriend" but thats it
they shouldn't make it required because so many jobs don't require you to know it and if you need to learn a language for some other reason, that's your problem duder
anyway school sucks that's my message :D
