CHAPTER TREINTA SIETE

"Happy birthday
Vincent." I smile
to him as I sit
down at the table.

"Thanks." He
chuckles before
sipping his water.

We didn't have
much planned for
his birthday but
we are having
dinner at Saddle
Ranch with a few
of his other
friends.

"Hey Jayde." He
says kind of shyly
to the girl who sits
down next to him.

He so has a
crush on her.

The rest of his
friends arrive and
I feel a little out
of place but no
biggie.

"How old are
you?" One of
them asks me.

"Almost 18." I
say before
shoving a piece
of food into my
mouth.

The guy watches
me uncomfortably
while Vincent flirts
with Jayde.

"I don't swing that
way." I state, not
caring about how
blunt I am being.

One of the boys
nearly spitting
out their drink all
over the table.

"What the fuck."
Jayde laughs,
confused and
looks around.

"Sorry, just
shocked about
something." The
guy shrugs, trying
not to bring much
attention to it.

"Your ex Charli
and her friends
are here." Vince
whispers slightly
pointing over to
the entrance.

"Charli from
tiktok? I thought
she was straight."
One of the boys
chuckles.

Jayde rolls her
eyes and says,
"you really live
under a rock."

"Girls are so
rude." One boy
mumbles to the
other annoyedly.

Are you ever in
public and see
someone you
know and either
hide yourself or
try to look "cool"?

Right now I
want to hide, but
I also want her
to see I'm here.

I watch Charli
and her friends
sit down at a
table across the
room. She most
likely won't
notice me now.

"I'm going to the
restroom, be right
back." I say as I
get up from the
table.

"Buddy system,
wait for me."
Jayde chuckles,
not wanting to be
stuck with Vince
and his weird
friends.

We do our
business and
wash up but
take our time
because boys
suck.

"I feel like
Vincent invited
randos off the
street, how is
friends with
those idiots?"
Jayde chuckles.

"For real i was
shoc-" I start
before getting
cut off by the
door opening.

Of course with
my luck it's
Charli who came
into the restroom.

"Oh what a
coincidence."
Charli chuckles
awkwardly.

"Oh my god you
must be ryann's
ex Charlotte?
Charli? Whatever.
I'm Jayde her
NEW girlfriend."
Jayde exclaims
fakely.

I stand there
and try to hide
my confusion to
why Jayde just
lied. Did she do
it because she
likes pissing
people off? Or..?

"Well um, I didn't
come in here to
chit chat." Charli
states, walking
into a stall
uncomfortably.

Exiting the
restroom i ask,
"what was that
all about?"

"I'm an actress,
did it for fun. I
know you liked
us making her
jealous though."
Jayde shrugs
with a chuckle.

Not Vince being
into actresses.
