"IT'S CHRISTMAS EVE, DI!" a voice shouted from across the dorms on the morn of December 24th, 1975.

Diya had taken the initiative to wake up earlier than usual on that morning, in the mood to decorate the dorms. The Fifth Year Gryffindors of Hogwarts spent several hours decorating the Common Room for Christmas, so it only made sense to decorate the dorms as well.

For once, the girls woke up peacefully, got dressed, blasted music around the dorm (despite it being 6 in the morning), and helped Diya hang up the stockings and prepare the dorms.

"Oi!"

Diya waved her wand, and the music stopped playing. "Did you guys hear that?"

Thump!

Lily stifled a laugh, "I heard that,"

"Fucking stupid sexist stairs!"

Marlene groaned, "I know that voice."

Diya laughed, the hand holding her hand falling to her side as she ran for the door. "Come on, guys!"

She ran into the hallway, eager to see what had caused the noise and crude words on such a cheerful holiday. Instead of watching where she was going, she looked behind her to see if the girls were following her.

"AAAH!"

Diya was suddenly sliding down the spiral staircase, eyes closed as she dreaded the fall. The stairwell stopped spiraling, and the Common Room was directly ahead. Any second now.

Huh, that's odd. The ground is much squishier than I remembered. Diya thought to herself.

"Get off!" A muffled voice came from underneath her. She was sitting directly on the backs of James Potter and Sirius Black. Remus and Peter were across the Common Room, keeled over laughing at the sight.

Shrieking, Diya quickly picked herself up from the ground just in time to watch the rest of the girls descend the newly reformed stairs.

"This is why you need to learn to be patient." Lily hummed.

"You say that as though you're the patient one in this friendship," Diya strained, still winded from her fall down the stairs.

Lily only glared at Diya before doing a merry little hop over the two boys who were still rolling on the floor in pain.
