"Are you avoiding me?"


Three days passed mula nang huli kong makita si Raffy. Ngayon ko lang siya naabutan sa court. 

His teammates were there earlier and decided to us talk alone. Sinadya ko talaga ang lalaking ito dito.

Pinasadahan ko si Raffy ng tingin. Basa ang buhok nito dahil sa pawis. He's wearing his red jersey short and shirt. Hindi maipagkakailang gwapo ito kahit naliligo sa sariling pawis. I took a step forward para mas maging malapit ako sa kanya.

Tumalim ang aking tingin nang humakbang ito paatras. So I took another step forward and he took a step backward.

"You are avoiding me"

"So?" coldly he said

Iba sa Raffy'ng nakipagdate sa akin noon. His eyes were cold. His eyebrows almost meet when he creased his forehead. Binalewala ko ang lahat na aking napansin sa kanya.

"Let's date?" I said 

Napailing ito. He picked up the ball from the floor and throw it in the basketball ring. Deritso ang pasok ng bola. Raffy then turned to me. Parehas pa rin ang lamig ng mga mata nito habang nakatingin sa akin. 

"I have to decline"

Napigilan ko ang pagtalim ng aking mata. How dare he decline my invitation?! He should be thankful that a Daenah Santos invited him for a date. Boys been dreaming for one.

Pilit kong pinangiti ang aking sarili. One last invite and if he said no then it's a no. I am Daenah Santos after all. I can easily think of another plan. I always do.

"And why is that? I thought you liked our date last time? Don't you like for another one?" I said in my sweetest voice

"I am sorry Daenah"

Asshole! I hissed in my mind. That's it? No reason why he decline?

I gave Raffy a death glare. If only looks could kill, he'll be dead this instant. Pinagkrus ko ang aking mga kamay sa aking dibdib. Tama na ang pagiging mabait ko sa lalaking ito. He doesn't deserve it. 

"No one ever turned down my invitation, asshole" malamig kong sabi "You will regret this day"

Bago ko pa man makuha ang reaksyon nito ay nilisan ko na ang lugar. Planting on how to destroy Raffy in my head as I walk away.

I'm mad... furious to be exact for what happened.

Naglakad ako papuntang sa isang klase ko ngayon. My friends are in their classes too kaya wala akong makasama ngayon. Kagaya ng mga dating nangyari sa tuwing pagpasok ko sa room ay naroon na ang professor at napatigil sa pagtuturo.

It was the girl professor who asked me to go to deans' office the last time. I smiled at her in sarcastic manner. Napailing na lang ito at nagpatuloy sa pagtuturo kahit hindi pa ako nakaupo. Where's her manner?

I spotted nerd at the back. Vacant chairs beside him. Wala itong katabi. Sino ba naman kasi ang gustong makatabi ito?

Nerd slightly changed his position when he saw me. He glance at the vacant chair beside him as if acknowledging me to sit beside him. Inikotana ko lang si nerd ng mata bago na upo sa tabi nito.

Don't get me wrong.

I need to give him another order at ayaw kong gamitin ng husto ang aking boses. Better he'll be near me so I can say what I want to command him without me repeating every word.

Habang nagsasalita ang professor sa harap ay sinipa ko ang paa ni nerd. He looked at me immediately.

"Mortify, Raffy" 

"Huh?" puno ng pagtataka sa mukha nito

Tss. Ito lang yata ang nerd na kilala ko na mahinang pumick-up ng utos. Tiningnan ko ng matalim si nerd.

He also looked at me. And somehow our eyes met. Agad itong nag-iwas ng tingin. It only lasted for seconds but I kinda notice the color of his eyes.

It was green!


Nagsuot ba ng contact lens si nerd or it's his natural eye color. Ngayon ko lang napansin dahil ngayon lang iyon natitigan ng saglit. 

Hindi na muling tumingin si nerd sa akin. Abala na ito sa pakikinig ng professor.

Pinaikot ko sa aking mga daliri ang ballpen na hawak ko. I was facing in front but my mind is somewhere else. Nerd's green eyes linger in my mind.

How come he got those green eyes yet he is not attractive at all? Real or not, hindi na bigyan ng hustisya ang kulay ng mga mata nito. They were owned by someone ugly.

The professor ended her class. I stood up so I can leave the room immediately. Hindi pa ako nakahakbang nang magsalita si nerd.

"Kailan ko gagawin ang utos mo?"

Hindi ko nilingon si nerd pero sinagot ko ang tanong niya.

"The earlier the better"
