Sophia Lyall Lupin, a Gryffindor from birth, had always been a bit of an enigma. Her mother had left when she was very young, and Sophia barely remembered her. Her father, whose mood turned bitter at any mention of her, had tried his hardest to provide her with the best life possible. Sophia never pushed the subject with him, preferring instead to focus on repaying his efforts by excelling in her own life. Despite her diligence and dedication, she was an ordinary girl, hardworking and closed off, with only a few friends and little in the way of popularity.

Her life took a dramatic turn in her fifth year when her father was appointed as the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. That same year, Sophia was made a Gryffindor Prefect, which thrust her into the spotlight. Though she didn't always seek attention, she found herself noticed by many, including one person in particular: Frederick Gideon Weasley.

Fred was well-known as a notorious prankster and Hogwarts' resident playboy. His charm and flirtatious nature meant that girls were constantly swooning over him. Despite his good looks and natural charisma, Fred and Sophia were polar opposites. Sophia was someone who yearned for a stable relationship with someone who wanted to settle down, while Fred was more interested in fleeting fun and adventure.

Given that they were in the same year, their paths crossed frequently—whether it was during classes, in the Common Room, or in Sophia's frequent reprimands of Fred and George for their constant mischief. Eventually, Sophia's frustration led her to stop trying to rein them in, and Fred's interest in her only grew. She was the one girl who remained impervious to his charm, which sparked a challenge in Fred.

This challenge, coupled with a bet he made with his best friend Lee Jordan, transformed what began as a simple wager into something much deeper for Fred. As he pursued Sophia, he realized that winning her over was more than just about proving a point; it had become a pursuit of genuine interest and something more meaningful.

Present Day

Starting her sixth year at Hogwarts, Sophia faced high expectations after earning twelve Outstanding O.W.Ls over the summer. Her father was immensely proud and, as a reward, had given her a barn owl named Lucifer.

On the first day back, Sophia entered the Great Hall with Alicia Spinnet, following Katie Bell and Angelina Johnson. As they sat for the start-of-term feast, the Hall buzzed with excitement. Professor Dumbledore made his usual speech and introduced the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Sophia's gaze inevitably found Fred Weasley among the Gryffindor table. Despite her attempts to keep her feelings in check, she couldn't help but notice Fred, who seemed to have caught her lingering look. George nudged Fred, who wore a knowing smirk, making Sophia glance away.

After the feast, Sophia joined the sixth-year Prefects to patrol the corridors. Her assigned partner, Graham Montague from Slytherin, was surprisingly pleasant, and their patrols had turned into friendly exchanges filled with laughter and camaraderie.

"Guess I'm stuck with you, eh, Lupin?" Montague joked, scratching his neck as they climbed the stairs to their assigned area. Sophia smiled softly.

"Well, if it's that bad, you can always switch," she replied, glancing back at him.
