I quickly shrunk all of our stuff and we put them in our pockets. I didn't want anyone touching my stuff but me. According to Hogwarts a History, Ana and I would definitely be in Slytherin. There is no other place to be for us. We are both ambitious and very cunning. When it came to the boats, my new friends had to coax me on.
"You're not going to fall in, Rose." Ana said
"Unlike you, Ana, I do not float. I am not above pulling you in with me and using you as a floaties until we are rescued." I said loudly as all three of them were trying to get me in the boat
They were not succeeding. Finally the Half-giant named Hagrid came over to us.
"What seems to be the problem?" Hagrid said at the amusing site
Rosetta stood like a stone statue while Ana from behind was trying to push her forward as Hermione and Neville pulled
"I don't swim. This rickety old boat is going to fall apart but not with me in it. I refuse. I rebuke the in the name of chocolate and all that is which is holy." I said in all serious
By this point, there was a crowd. They all began laughing.
"The first years have to be on a boat, Miss Rosetta." Hagrid said concerned
Rosetta looked at him then at her friends.
"Exactly how strong are you, sir?" I asked
Ana stared at me along with my friends. When we finally made it to the doors of Hogwarts, McGonagall was outside and staring at us. I was sitting pretty on Hagrids shoulder. McGonagall looked like she wanted to say something but thought better of it. Hagrid reached up and grabbed my waist before sitting me on the ground.
"Thank you, Hagrid. I do appreciate it." I said with a wide smile
Hagrid simply chuckled and left. We were quickly introduced to the basics of Hogwarts. McGonagall told us about the gaining and losing of points, the Houses and the sorting, and the welcoming feast. Students began panicking over how we would be sorted. Hermione was quick to pull out a book and began studying all the spells she already knew.
"Calm down, Hermione. The Sorting is easy and simple." I said and Ana grabbed Hermione's hand as I did the same to Neville
Before I could answer anything else, there was a commotion on the side between a blond headed boy, Draco Malfoy, and James Jr.
"You and your family are nothing more than Death Eaters. Why would I take your hand?" James said as his friend Ronald laughed
Everyone was watching the commotion when I stepped in. Time to make my debute.
"Ah Heir Malfoy, I see you've had a run in with the idiot bully. I am Rosetta Sherwood, Heiress of the Ancient House of Sherwood and the Most Ancient and Noble House of Potter. Lovely to make your acquaintance." I said with a small smile
If Malfoys could faint he looked like he was about to. His father would definitely be pleased with such an ally.
"You're not Heir Potter I am." James said loudly
"No you're the idiot who didn't bother to go to the goblins and ask about an inheritance test. Grandfather didn't trust James Senior not to mess things up for the Potter name so named me the Heir instead of you. Feel free to send a letter to Gringotts in your spare time. I passed the qualifications and tests as necessary by the age of 8. If James Senior had paid attention he would of known you needed to take the test at the age of 8 or you are no longer eligible to be heir." I said slowly
James looked close to having steam blowing out of his ears. Malfoy looked highly amused. Before he turned to me.
"It is nice to meet you, Heiress Potter." Malfoy said formally
"Please call me Sherwood. It's been what I've gone by for years now and I am sentimental to the name." I said formally
"Very well, Sherwood." He said
I guided him back over to my friends just as James was about to explode. McGonagall finally came back. Neville's tie was fixed. Hermione's hair brushed. Ana and I had not a hair out of place. When we walked in, the Sorting had begun. There was a stool with a brown witch's hat on it. When the hat came to life the muggle-borns gasped and giggled when it began to sing.
"Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!" The hat sang
The first years all clapped and people were then sent to their individual houses. Hermione ended up in Ravenclaw. Neville went to Hufflepuff. He looked about to cry but cheered up when Ana and I cheered for him. Draco and Ana went to Slytherin as I waited for my name to be called. It was as I suspected when they didn't call my name immediately after Ana's. They are going to announce me as a Potter. Good thing I took their thunder in the Front Entrance. I thought
"Potter, Rosetta." McGonagall called
I walked up to the chair.
"I prefer to go by Sherwood, Mrs. McGonagall. I prefer to honor my father." I told her before taking the hat
"Very well, Miss Sherwood." McGonagall said
I let the hat sink onto my head and waited for the hat to decide.
"Hmmm. You are very strange child. You've grown into someone the Headmaster definitely wasn't expecting. You can be kind and loyal, but only to those you deem worthy. You are intelligent beyond compare for your age, but knowledge can be a weapon in your hands. You are brave but not foolhardy. You are the perfect Slytherin. You are cunning and ambitious in what you want. You would make a pure-blood family very happy. You shall go to the House that shall lead you to greatness. SLYTHERIN!" The hat shouted
The Slytherin first years applauded loudly. I could hear Neville and Hermione cheering for me. I smirked and glanced at McGonagall under my eyelashes. She pointed me to the Slytherin table with a kind nudge. I walked to Ana and Draco and sat between them.
"Welcome to the snake house." Draco said
"I think I'm going to like it here." I said with a giggle
Draco beamed. Ana smiled. May my first year begin.
