"That was so dumb." The disbelieving voice of Beomgyu sounded from somewhere beside Kai.
"What was he thinking?" Ryujin spluttered out, sounding incredulous yet grateful at the same time.
"Is Yuna okay though?" Beomgyu asked carefully. "Well, I believe the nurses are giving her a checkup, you know, in case her mother abused her or anything, but I think she's alright."
"And her mother?" Beomgyu questioned again. Ryujin scoffed, "I don't know, but I pray she goes to jail. She deserves it."
Kai wanted to say something, but only managed to make a weird gurgling sound, but thankfully that was all he needed to get their attention. "You're alive, great," Beomgyu chortled, "This is the second time I am in this hospital next to an injured person."
Ryujin swatted him gently, then turned to Kai, "We'll inform a nurse, and let you rest." Kai managed a weak nod, and Ryujin whispered a small "thank you" before nurses clad in soft white scrubs ushered them out.
Cold bitter medicine was spooned to him, the nurse speaking softly and warmly, assuring him that everything would be alright before his eyelids began to droop and he was whisked off to dreamland.

After some time of rest and lots of painkillers, Kai could walk and get up without excruciating pain. His parents were absolutely dumbfounded as to why he would do such a rash thing, and for once, took time off work. They were worried, Kai realised, and they cared.
Soobin and Beomgyu visited him a handful of times, Soobin clicking his tongue as he cooed at Kai like he was a baby and Beomgyu just holding back snickers. He felt so...loved.

Yuna peeked into his ward one day after everyone had left, a small plaster on her cheek (for some reason) and that same brilliant grin flashing at him. She set down a paper bag of hot waffles and sat down by his bedside, not saying anything.
When she finally spoke, she was quieter and calmer. "I'm not sure if thank you is appropriate, but thank you. I guess...I got you in hospital," She laughed lightly, then turned serious, "I really didn't want to be with my mother. And I don't want to be my mother. She may go to jail now, probably for bribing the judge as well as drunk driving. But we're not sure if she can be prosecuted for that, since, well, you jumped in front of her but...we'll see." She gave a dainty smile, "We'll see."
And Kai smiled back, "Well, yeah, I mean, you're my friend."
"Yeah," Yuna exhaled slowly, "You're the best friend I've ever had."
"On one condition."
"Hm?"
"Let's never meet on the clock tower ledge again."
Yuna let out her signature tinkling laugh, "Deal."
And the clocktower ledges will now be left alone, merely as a place to admire from a distance but never to be touched.
