Due to the bullying in grade school, he started to lie and cover up his true, kind, passive, and caring personality with a strong, mean, confident one, which caused others to hate him even more. He's loved Shuichi for years, but because of his reputation and Shuichi's girlfriend Kaede's hate for Kokichi, Shuichi avoids him. Now, Kokichi has Hanahaki and his health is deteriorating fast.
