Harry walked into 12 Grimmauld Place. It was empty, but he knew Sirius was somewhere in the house. He walked upstairs and checked each bedroom until finally, he found Sirius sitting under the family tapestry.

"Hey Sirius," Harry said, sitting down next to him. Sirius was an adult, and Harry could see the tips of particular tattoos peeking out from his shirt. One, in particular, was the moon changing phases. Harry had seen that tattoo a few years back and decided to get a matching one.

"Ah, Harry, my favorite godson" Sirius patted Harry's back and then returned to looking at the family tree. A few faces were burned off - Sirius' included.

"Why are you looking at the family tapestry?" Harry asked, leaning back on his hands.

"Just reliving old memories, I suppose," Sirius laughed a bit.

"Do you ever regret running away?" Harry asked, and Sirius just shook his head.

"No, never" He tilted his head to the side, "You know, there was a time in my life where I wasn't sure they had burned my name off the tree" Sirius closed his eyes, laughing at the distant memory. If only he could have laughed about it back then, instead of being scared shitless.

"Why not? They disowned you, right? That means they burn your name off" Harry looked at the other black marks on the Black Family Tree.

"In my last year at Hogwarts, I uh... well I got a letter from my brother. Long story short, my parents placed me in an arranged marriage" Sirius frowned, "It sort of ruined everything for me"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, I thought I was to be wedded to some random girl, so I basically stopped dating. I stopped even thinking about anyone in hopes of not falling love and hating the arranged marriage even more" Sirius sighed, "Although I had basically failed that as I was already falling for someone" He leaned back on his hands, "Never worked out with them though"

"Why not?" Harry had never heard much about Sirius' childhood. At least not the good parts. Harry supposed this must have been bitter-sweet.

"I forced myself to distance myself from them. I was terrified that I would fall in love with them and then be ripped away from them. It wouldn't have been fair for either of us"

"Wait... You were never married though" Harry looked at Sirius with a confused expression.

"No, no, I was never married"

"What happened?"

"Well, they burned my name off the tree before making the marriage agreement. They weren't technically my parents anymore, so they couldn't legally set me up in an arranged marriage" Sirius laughed, "They never told me that, of course. In fact, I believed them easily, and I gave up hope. I almost went through with it"

"You did?"

"Yeah, I got the tux. I got to the altar and said the vows to her as if it was to someone else, and then just when I was about to agree to spend the rest of my life with a girl I'd met a few days back, and then-" Sirius laughed.

"And then..?" Harry was interested in the story as he had never heard of any of this before.

"-And then your father, James, he barged into the wedding screaming at us to stop. Remus was there too" Harry caught Sirius' sad smile, "And they sprinted up to us with a photograph of the family tapestry that showed my name blacked out. And then Remus shoved some legal documents in my hands that basically explained that I was not legally obligated to marry that girl. Long story short, I cursed out my parents, I apologized to the girl, and then I flipped off the whole wedding, threw the cake on the ground like an overdramatic child, and then stormed out of the venue with James and Remus" Sirius was laughing at the memory.
