Edit: I pushed myself since I'm busy. Next time I'll come back with the rest of the book.

Debbie was amazed by how different the place was without the music and dancing teenagers. It was tranquil and the opaque lake was beautiful, glimmering in the darkness due to the moonlight. Different noises of nature reached her ears. It gave her a sense of serenity; something she had been desiring for a while now.

But, she couldn't ignore the reason behind her sudden appearance. She began approaching the figure that was seated on a bench quietly. She wasn't sure if he heard her or not, but she was certain she wasn't gonna go anywhere until they talked things through. She halted next to him, capturing his attention.

Levi pulled out the earbuds with an expression of shock.

"Debbie?" he let out. Perhaps he was just imagining it? "What are you doing here?"

"Hey, Levi," Debbie retorted as she fiddled with her hands. She was nervous, afraid their conversation would start with the kiss. In short, she strongly hoped he forgot about that because she was dreading the rejection. "I came here to find you."

"You've been avoiding me," he stated, repeating the words he'd said one afternoon. He scooted to the side a bit. It was his way of telling the nervous girl to get seated. And she did.

She knew things were going to be tense but she wasn't prepared for this level of intensity.

"I... I didn't see you anywhere," she said and mentally slapped herself for saying something so stupid.

"Impossible. So you didn't see me when I was standing next to your car on Wednesday?"

Debbie sighed in defeat, not seeing the reason to make up excuses anymore. She looked up and met his emerald gaze. "Okay, there's no need to deny it anymore. I was being irrational and there's no excuse for my actions. I freaked out and did the opposite of all the things I should have done. And I'm sorry for that," she admitted with a tinge of sadness in her voice

"I'm sorry as well. If I knew kissing you would do this then I wouldn't have done it in the first place. The last thing I want is to have you being uncomfortable around me," Levi said truthfully. The said male was just thankful that he finally got to talk to her after all that had been happening.

His words made Debbie feel like somebody was tugging at her heart. Her eyes shifted to the calm lake before them.

Maybe an alligator would come out at any moment?

"You wouldn't have done it?" she questioned, mostly to herself but Levi heard her. She could feel him looking at her side profile and mentally scolded herself for making her words sound so cold and bitter.

What's wrong with me? She couldn't help but wonder.

"Yeah, I wouldn't have," he confirmed that she heard right. "I'm sorry," he added as he unconsciously grabbed her hand and rubbed the back of it with his thumb, making circular motions.

"Don't apologise. It should be vice versa," she said and exhaled as she faced him. "Do you forgive me for acting childish and not facing the consequences of my doings?"

"You are very specific when you speak, you know that?" he chuckled and proceeded to nod. He softly kissed her fingers, making her furrow her brows. She would be lying if she said it didn't make a certain organ react - her heart.

His lips felt warm against her cool fingertips.

"What was that for?" she asked with an involuntary giggle.

"Just felt like it," he said with a shrug. A smile made its way onto Debbie's face but it quickly turned into a frown upon noticing the other's troubled expression.
