[A\N] This part has the series of events that happened after Debbie and Levi met at the retreat. All these happened in between the prologue and the first chapter. Please do not let anything confuse you. It's sort of like a compilation of events which I think you need to know. Do not skip this. It's not a chapter but you need to read it.
It is all written in Debbie's point of view btw.

It all began properly when the girls and boys were to participate in a hunt at the retreat. It was yet another challenge we were supposed to complete during our weeklong trip to the island. I had dirtied all the shoes I came with. So, while on our way to the starting point, a twig dug into my flip-flop clad foot. The events that followed led to me being left behind by the group. What a typical Debbie thing. Luckily, Levi, who was starting to notice me, came back for me.
"I'm dead serious right now. I can't find Jenny. I don't understand where it could have gone. It disappeared, just like that," I stated as I searched for the flip flop in the nearby bushes. Levi was just standing behind me, not helping.
"Who's Jenny?"
"My flip flop," I retorted.
"You name your shoes?"
"Mhm. Unlike you, I value my shoes." Well, simply because I didn't have friends. So why not name your flip-flops? I was probably gonna be an old lady who kisses her dogs.
"I can see that." I didn't miss the sarcasm in his voice. "Demi."
"What?" I snapped, annoyed because I was searching for my flip flop and I wasn't finding it.
"Demi."
"It's Debbie. Debbie," I stressed on my name, with a little irritation in my voice.
"Whatever. Is that the flip flop you are looking for?" I turned around so fast that my hair whipped in my face. It was a little damp. My eyes followed his finger and fell on the flip flop.
It was next to the tree all this while. How did I not see it? Was it because I was panicking? I was beyond embarrassed. I rushed to it and wore it.
"Thanks," I said with a smile.
"Don't thank me, you are just blind. Let's go," he responded. I rolled my eyes and watched him walk away. I followed suit and caught up to his pace. This time I was focusing on everything I was stepping on.
"Can you smell that?" I inquired.
"No. Your nose has a problem."
"Your nose is the one with the issues. I can smell moist dirt. Did it rain?" I asked, seriously. He glanced at me with a worried expression. An expression that read 'I think you lost your sanity'.
"Yes. It was raining cats and dogs," he answered. I could hear the sarcasm in his voice. "It's just moist dirt. The water is nearby," he added. I nodded and did a little dance with my shoulders while mumbling some stupid lyrics. He watched me weirdly. "What are you doing?"
I didn't stop dancing nonetheless. "I'm doing the juicy dance," I simply answered. He looked even more confused now.
"Juicy dance?"
"Yeah, you know that one from a juice ad. They were doing this while sipping the juice," I replied. He gave me a blank look. "You don't know it?" I asked in disbelief. "Who doesn't?"
"I don't..." He walked faster, leaving me behind.
"Juice issa baby. Juice issa baby. Let's go and partaayyy. I don't eat grass. Where is the troll? I heard it drinks juice. Who wants some juice? Juice issa baby!"
