Love is meaningless.....

The boy sat immobile for hours on end, staring at the little bottle of red liquid that he cradled in one hand, his head resting against the wall behind him as he embraced the darkness. He didn't move. His breathing was silent, unnoticable. If someone were to enter, they would think he was dead.

But he wasn't. He was very much alive.

And that was more than he had wanted.

The sound of approaching footsteps caused the boy to tense fractionally, his eyes focusing on the door moments before a knock sounded, causing him to shift slightly, slipping the bottle into the weapons pouch on his leg. The door slid open with a loud creak, revealing Kisame standing there, shark-like eyes scanning the room before settling on the figure in the corner, a slight grin forming on his face at the scent that he recognised.

The scent of blood.

The two of them would likely get along.

Shou gazed at Kisame as he stood at his door, head tilted in question. The older man merely gestured him to follow, saying:

"Leader-sama is calling."

The boy's eyes shone slightly as he stood, making his way over and walking alongside Kisame as they made their way towards the office in silence. Neither spoke, neither looked at each other.

Just silence.

And silence is only truly broken by the sound of death.

Pein stared at the man and the boy in front of him, carefully considering his words and decision before he informed them. Both were fond of slaughter, so it seems like the best combination for the first mission of the boy- one least likely of causing conflict. But, it could also have drawbacks- mainly, a lot of unecessary death.

Not to forget, the boy was not all he let on. It was best not be too complacent on his first mission.

With a final resignation made, his mouth opening and words answering the unasked question:

"I have a mission..."

The two entered the living room, one heading to the kitchen and the other sitting in a corner of the room at a table, watching a spider in the corner of the room as it slowly paralyzing and wrapping a fly in web as it prepared to eat it, a slight glimpse of amusement in his eyes at the sight.

It was fascinating.

He was broken from his reveree when a plate of food was placed in front of him, earning a glance of confusion fron the boy. When he looked up Kisame merely grinned:

"Eat. We'll head out in an hour or so."

The boy stared for a few moments more, before studying the plate in front of him and slowly beginning to consume it, confusion clouding his smile as he chewed it, eyes carefully observing the other man, who went back into the kitchen after a few moments.

He did not understand.

But neither did they.

————————————————————————————————————————-

The boy with black hair entered the room, eyes hardening slightly in an attempt to disguise his confusion at the sight of the boy sitting on the floor, a plate of food in front of him that he was staring at, occasionally picking up a piece to transfer into his mouth. He glanced in the direction of Kisame, who was preparing another plate of food in the kitchen, face turning at the sound of his entrance, a grin forming at the hidden confusion on the 15 year olds face. He gestured towards a plate that was placed on the table, continuing with his task:

"We have a mission. We will leave in a couple of hours, so you'd better eat."

He hn-ed, sitting on a chair in front of the food, eyes carefully observing the boy who sat in the corner. He was suspicious. The boy was strange- the way he acted was not natural for someone who had been recruited into a band of criminals, nor anyone, for that matter. And, his chakra was unsettling- it practically screamed for usage, wavering between being compact and widely spread, as though he had no control over it.

But he did. He was able to control it perfectly well. So, why did he allow it to be rampant? Suddenly, rinnegan eyes of a disturbing quality were staring into his own eyes, the smile completely opposite to his own blank expression. The boy who was identifed as Shou simply stared back, his perplexing smile seeming to grow wider with every passing second as the two exhanged stares for a long time, the air growing thinner at the tension, before Kisame's voice cut through the silence:

"Shou is also coming on the mission."

He blinked, any emotion that may have been displayed in his eyes erased in that movement, head inclining slightly in a fractionall nod as he turned his attention to his food, trying to ignore the sense of discomfort that edged it's way into him as he felt the eyes return their stare to him frequently, a slight feeling of malice in the air.

But they weren't aimed at him.

They were glaring at the symbol of a leaf on his headband, dislike dancing in the purple eyes at the sight.

He hated them. He hated them all.

All of them.

The fools. They are all fools.

And not even death will save them.

....death, however, is a different story.
