Hearts' Gone Cold

Like a cold winter wind, comes a feeling
So sensitive am I that it leaves me reeling
Oh this heart of mine, how I've let you down
Introspective enough to know that I'll drown

My eyes are open I wish them to be closed
I can stifle the thoughts when not interposed
One foot forward I'd like just one back
Onward we go the rain hides the tracks

Struggling to still be apathetic
I look to the signs that seem prophetic
I find the inscription of a verse foretold
"Woe to that man whose hearts' gone cold"
