She stumbled down to the common room, tears flowing freely now, she glanced around the large room, feeling a surge of relief that neither Flint, Blaise or Marcel were there at that moment.

"Whoah hey Em what the hell happened?" Pucey was coming through the portrait hole as she was rushing through it, Goyle watched on guiltily.

"Leave me alone Pucey" she sobbed and marched past him out into the corridor

"Someone better fill me in before Flint or Marcel gets here" he ordered glaring at the boys who looked at each other sheepishly.

Emerald barrelled down the corridor, not paying attention to where she was going so she wasn't surprised when she crashed into a muscled chest.

"Woah, easy on the steps" he chuckled in a thick Scottish accent, before he took a good look at the girl

"Emerald?" He said surprised "what's happened to you?"

"Leave me alone" she snapped "I don't want to talk about it"

He raised an eyebrow "feisty little one aren't you" he laughed "I'm Oliver Wood, I see the pleasures all mine" he held his hand out for her to shake which she took tentatively

"Well it would be bad manners to leave a damsel in distress..."

"— I'm not a damsel in distress" she argued

"You're right ...from the stories I've heard about you I'm pretty sure you're the dragon" he chuckled again "In any case it would be bad manners to leave a lady when she's in distress... follow me" and he strode off

Emerald didn't know exactly why but she found herself following after him aimlessly.

They walked and walked until they got to the Quiddich pitch

Of course we would end up here

"Do you fly?" The Gryffindor Captain asked the girl

She shook her head "never taken my fancy, I used to be the referee when Blaise and Marcellus played" she explained to him

"Well at least you know all the rules" he said to her cheekily "come on I'll teach you the basics"

They were there for hours, at first Emerald was nervous on the broom, following Oliver's command to the letter eventually she grew more relaxed about the height and the balancing, even Oliver was impressed

"Not bad Gaunt" he whistled "not bad at all"

They landed, Oliver propping his broom up on the grass before taking a seat, gesturing for Emerald to copy him.

"Now you don't have the energy to attack me,do you want to talk about what's got you all in a tizzy" he asked her gently

And she didn't know what it was about this Scottish boy but she felt so at ease with him she blurted out...

"Boy trouble" and he nodded

"Thought as much, I heard about what happened at breakfast, found Potter in the loo hurling his guts up, hasn't left his room since" he told her "figured something bad happened"
