Chapter 2

It's been 1 week since am in New York. Today I have an interview at Levis Corporation for the job of art head department.

I am Lorie Ellis, I am the only daughter of the famous billionaire Peter Ellis. I am a graduate in Art and Design. After having convinced my father with emotional blackmail that I want to be independent and path my own career without the family help, he had agreed unwillingly at my demand. In order to land a job on my own merit I am using my mother maiden name that is Adler. I have written my name as Loren Adler on my Cv.

I arrived at my interview 10 minutes earlier. I saw many candidates sitting. I was just praying I get this job or else as per my father agreement, I had to get a job within 1 month or else I will be called back home and join the family business.

"Lorie Adler, please come in."

A voice bring me back to reality and I hurried my way to the conference room. I opened the door to be met by a woman in her 50th and a man almost the same age. The man was sitting while the woman was standing by his side.

" Good morning. " I greeted them both.

"Good morning miss Adler, please have a seat dear, I am Ace Levis." said the man with a genuine smile.

"Miss Adler, I won't beat around the bush, we already selected our Art head department..."

"Oh okay." that's all I had managed to say feeling dejected. I was beginning to stand up to leave when I heard the man talk again.

".... I haven't finished yet dear."

I watch him with confusion on my face.

"As I was saying the post of Art department had already been filled but there is another job I would like to hire you!"

"And may I know which job?"

"Personal assistant... you see this is Jenny Parson and she is going to retire in 1 month, so we want someone to fill her place and you have the qualifications."

"But..."

"Take it in a positive way dear, if you fulfill this job well then you can get the promotion later to be in the art department."

Well he is right. After all it is a job maybe not the one I was looking forward but this will stop daddy from calling me back.

" Okay I agree sir".

"Good, so see you tomorrow at 9am till then have a good day ahead."

I was on cloud nine when I left the building. I could not believe I finally got a job. I took out my phone and call my best friend Julia to announce her the good news.

Julia Peterson is my childhood friends. We have been together till date. She even lives in New York and has her own clothing boutique.

"Hi Jul, guess what?" sounding excited.

"You got a boyfriend." replied Julia equally excited.

"No Dumbo, I got a job."

"Aaaaaaaa that's so cool, we need to celebrate this."

"Okay Saturday night at the club what you say?"

"Of course am in, see ya, take care. Call me if you need anything okay."

"Okay bye take care too."

The rest of the day, I roamed the New York city to get familiar with the surrounding as I will be starting a new chapter in my life.
