Chapter 20 - Love Moves in Mysterious Ways

Se-Ri and Jeong Hyeok made good on their promise to attend Seo Dan and Gu Seung Jun's wedding reception. They had previously sent their apologies that they could not make the main ceremony because Se-Ri still had a commercial film to shoot, while Jeong Hyeok's flight from Beijing was delayed.

At the holding area, where they agreed to meet, Jeong Hyeok stood fixing his suit when Se-Ri walked in. With her hair up in a messy bun, Se-Ri wore a blush coloured gown that hugged all her curves until it flared below her hips that made her look like she was walking on air. When she turned to speak to Manager Hong, who accompanied her, Jeong Hyeok gulped seeing that it had a low back, too.

And he was a sucker for her back.

"Hi," she greeted, sauntering close to him.

"Hi," he croaked out. "You're beautiful."

"Thank you. You're not so bad yourself," Se-Ri said, appreciatively. The venue was filled with flowers, a four-string quartet set the mood, and people were happily chatting away. A few people recognized Se-Ri when they walked in. Seeing this, Jeong Hyeok tried to slowly distance himself but Se-Ri pleaded, "Please don't. I want to enjoy this night with you."

"Are you sure?" Jeong Hyeok asked, warily. "I do not wish to cause you a scandal. There are people who have their phones out already."

"Dan and I talked about that. People have been asked to not take photos," Se-Ri informed him to Jeong Hyeok's surprise. "She has become a very protective friend."

It was still a risk, they knew, but Jeong Hyeok smiled happily and moved close to her again. They made their way through the crowd to greet the newlyweds. "Congratulations! We're sorry we missed the main event," Se-Ri said to the beautiful bride. "You look so wonderful, Dan."

"Thank you, Yoon Se-Ri and I'm so glad you're here!" Seo Dan shrieked before pulling her in for a hug. When she stepped back to stare at Se-Ri and Jeong Hyeok, "Ugh. Maybe I shouldn't have invited you two. Such a pretty couple! You're going to upstage Gu Seung Jun and I."

Se-Ri laughed. "No one is more radiant than you, Dan," she said and she meant it. There was a happiness that emanated from within Seo Dan that no one could match that night. Seo Dan and Gu Seung Jun were pulled away for the wedding program, so Se-Ri and Jeong Hyeok took their seats.

They chatted about bits and pieces about the wedding, then Jeong Hyeok's business trip and then Se-Ri's commercial. During the drive home, their talks continued reminding Se-Ri and Jeong Hyeok once again that this was what they liked the most about being with each other: the conversations never ended.

Jeong Hyeok noticed her staring at him and wasn't able to help himself and asked, "Is there something wrong with my face?"

Se-Ri shook her head. "No. Nothing wrong."

"Then what?"

"I missed this," Se-Ri told him.

Jeong Hyeok smiled. Holding out his palm, he waited for her to place her hand on his. With their fingers intertwined, he lifted her hand up and pressed a kissed on it. "I adore you."

Unable to help herself, she leaned over and kissed his cheek. "Never let me go," she whispered.

They were inseparable as Jeong Hyeok walked her to her door. They had been rubbing noses and gazing at each other but no one had yet dared to verbalise what they both obviously wanted.

"Se-Ri, I should go," Jeong Hyeok whispered, kissing her hand.

"Why?"

"I'm desperately tempted to kiss you," he admitted.
