Ch.82 Brief Respite (Season 3 Part 2: War of the Underworld)

October 21 380 HE

It was beautiful day in the Underworld as the sun shined down on a black-haired boy carrying two heavy sacks of goods as he reached a cabin shaded by trees. The boy approached the cabin as a dragon was standing at attention. Seeing the boy, he lowered his body towards him.

"Heh, I'm back Amayori. Why don't do you head on to the lake and get some fish?" The boy said petting his head. Amayori nodded and flew off towards as the boy headed inside. Inside the cabin, was a cozy space and from there he saw two figures. One was at the kitchen and the other was sitting beside a bed. When the boy entered they both looked towards the door.

"Ah Kirito, Welcome back." The blonde-haired boy greeted. Kirito placed the supplies on the table as the blonde-haired girl opened and inspected them.

Kirito: Is this good enough? I didn't stay in town long enough for me to know which stores to go to. Probably should've had Eugeo go instead.

Eugeo: True, but it was my turn to watch over him.

Kirito: So Alice, this good enough.

Alice smiled at the contents of the supplies and nodded.

Alice: Indeed, this will be good enough. I'll get started on lunch.

Eugeo: My watch is just about up. So I'll help.

Alice: You will? Thanks.

Eugeo walked over to the kitchen and began helping Alice while Kirito walked over to the bed and sat down on the chair next to the bed. He stared at the person who was in the bed. His eyes were closed and looked to be asleep.

Kirito: Holding up okay, Mav?

Mav stayed still motionless. The only movement being the rising and falling of his chest.

Kirito: It's been a few months in the Underworld. I've been getting along with Eugeo and Alice. They're.....certainly unique but...heh, that's just like you to find the ones that can deal with you. To be honest, I'm so used to you coming up with some plan that I'm kind of at a loss on what to do. I lost connection to Kikuoka when the power outage happened. Just shooting in the dark in a place I know nothing about. I don't know how comas fully work but there isn't a day that goes by where I hope you'll open your eyes cracking your jokes and references. I'm sorry Mav. Sorry I wasn't strong enough to bring you back safely.

Kirito trailed off and then sighed staring blankly at his partner and brother. He placed his hand on the young man's shoulder.

Kirito: I'm getting you out of here. Whatever it takes, Y/N.

Three months ago in the Underworld

Kirito: MAV! MAV! Come on wake up damnit! Please!

Eugeo: Mav? 

Eugeo knelt down beside Kirito and inspected Mav's stats.

Eugeo: Thank goodness he's still alive!

Eugeo took a deep breath and stood up turning towards Alice.

Eugeo: Where's Cardinal?

Cardinal: Can you all hear me?

Cardinal's voice echoed through the chamber.

Eugeo: Cardinal? Where are you?

Cardinal: It seems that after we defeated Quinella, there was a disconnection to the Underworld. The program realized there was no main system running so it pulled me back into the system since I'm the secondary. You all should leave the tower as soon as possible. This is the last time I'll be able to speak to you.
