Ch.58 Fade to Black

Man: What?

Mav: You're always complaining about not having any money so....

Mav held out one of the bags of gold as the man took the bag and opened it.

Man: Well......shit kid. You hit the jackpot. And you're giving this to me?

Mav: Yeah.....a way of saying thanks...your teaching is what I look forward to at the end of the day.

The man looked at Mav and smiled before rubbing his head.

Man: You're a good kid.

Mav: Thanks......uh...I still don't your name...

Tony: Tony Redgrave is the name.

Mav: Nice to meet you, Tony.

Tony: No problem. But, I think it's about time we trained wouldn't you say?

Mav: Definitely....

Tony: What's wrong? You seem distraught.

Mav: It's about my friend Alice. I'm worried about her. I think my friend Eugeo feels the same.

Tony: Well, whatever happens, stay strong. People take advantage of people who don't have a strong resolve. But, I think that's enough idle chat. Let's practice.

The boys continued their work the following day as Eugeo noticed a dragon knight flying by.

Eugeo: A dragon knight?!

Mav: What?

Mav jerked his head around noticing the knight as well. The two put the pieces together watching the knight land in the village. 

Mav: Come on!

Eugeo: Right! 

The two boys sprinted towards the village. When they reached the square, they saw the knight standing there with all the villagers gathered around.

Eugeo: Alice!

Eugeo called out to Alice who had a worried expression on her face. The two boys ran up to their friend.

Alice: Eugeo, Mav.

Mav: I don't like the look of this.... You should leave now while you can. 

After Alice was accused she was quickly strapped onto a harness that was attached to the dragon. To which Eugeo and Mav ran out in front.

Mav: Hey knight dude!

The knight turned his head towards the boy.

Mav: I get that rules are rules but isn't execution a bit far? If that's the case then I shall not stand for this.

The knight gave no response as Mav looked towards Eugeo.

Mav: Eugeo... I'm gonna strike him with the axe.

Eugeo: Huh? But the Taboo-

Mav: Screw the Taboo. You'd rather follow the rules than save your friend?

Mav dashed towards the Knight as the Knight looked over his shoulder and blasted the kid onto his back.

Knight: Escort those two kids out of the square.

Mav got back up and tried to run only to be held down by some of the townspeople.

Mav: Eugeo! Help Alice!
