Shawn Mendes
"Hey, were are you?"
"I-i'm out."
"Yes I realise that. But where?"
"It's a surprise."
"Elara i don't like the sound of that. And what's that noise?"
"Shawn it's fine."
"Where are you? Come on I'm bored."
"Shawn Mendes you are supposed to be looking after our daughter."
"I am! We're both bored. Come on please?"
"Fine! I'm getting a tattoo."
"You're what?!"
"I'm getting a tattoo. I used the guy you said."
"Hi Shawn."
"Chris? What are you doing to my wife?"
"I'm not your wife yet."
"You will be in less than a month so where are you?"
"Forever Ink."
"Be there in ten."

I hung up the phone before she even had chance to protest.
I was baffled.
She had never mentioned getting the tattoo.
She said she's ago that she wanted one but I never thought she would actually do it.

Frances and I jumped into the car.
She was just excited to be going on an adventure.
And I promised to get her ice cream.

"Daddy whats a tattoo?" Frances said and I smiled.
"You know the drawings I have on my body?" I asked and she nodded as she stared out of the window, "Well those drawings are tattoos. They're there forever."
"Why does mamma want one?"
"I'm not sure baby that's what we're going to find out."

As we pulled up to the shop my heart raced and I wasn't sure why.
I held Frances' hand as we walked in but the shop was pretty much empty.
"Elara?" I shouted.
"In here!" A male voice shouted and I led Frances over to a back room.
When we walked in, Elara was laying on her side with her rib cage exposed.
Chris was leaning over her and tattooing onto her side as her face scrunched together as he worked over bone.

"Baby what are you doing?" I said and knelt down to kiss her cheek.
"I told you ages ago I wanted one." She smiled and I shook my head with a smile.
"What is it?" I asked and tried to look over Chris' shoulder.
"Give me five minutes and we'll be done." He said and I nodded and sat in the chair that was over the other side of the room and pulled Frances into my lap.
"Sorry I brought her but I couldn't leave her alone."
"It's alright man. No ones in today. As long as she doesn't touch anything there's no issue with me." Chris said and Frances smiled.
"Mamma does it hurt?"
"Quite a lot baby." Elara sighed.
"Why are you doing it?"
"It's a tribute to you and daddy." Elara said and I smiled.
"What's that?"
"So it's something that means something to us." I explained and she nodded.

"Right. All done. One of my best clients." Chris said and Elara laughed. "Seriously man she sat like a rock."
"Because no pain is equivalent to pushing out a baby." She smiled and sat up.
She walked over to the mirror and admired Chris' work that now decorated the left side of her rib cage.
She grinned before walking over to me.
I gently moved Frances off my lap to examine the ink.
I looked at the three flowers that were tied together with a string.
I frowned as I saw all the flowers were different.
I looked up at Elara who bit her lip with a smile.
"It's each of our birth flowers. They're tied together to show that we'll never leave each other." She explained and I smiled.
It was beautiful.

I sighed and shrugged off my coat before lifting my tshirt off of my body.
"Naked!" Frances yelled and I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not getting naked." I said and she shook her head disapprovingly.
"What are you doing?" Elara said and put a hand on my chest.
"Match it on me." I said and Chris nodded.
"Wait what?"
"I said to you that if you ever got a tattoo for our family then I would match it." I smiled and she grinned.
"Hope you can take it."
"For you two, I'll take anything."

I didn't know how she did it.
I had had tattoos but that one, in that spot was bad.
She constantly laughed at me and Frances just laughed along because her mother was laughing.
But it brought us all together.
And that made it so worth it.

As we sat in the tattoo shop we talked about the wedding.
Every time we talked about it it made me excited.
We had already picked our castle venue and ballroom for our reception.
We had picked caterers and done the cake.
Elara had her dress and I had my suit.
Everything was sorted.

I had caught her a few times trying to write her vows but of course she wouldn't let me see them.
I had already written mine, but the thought that they weren't perfect worried me.
The whole day had to be perfect.
Then again, I knew that as long as she was my wife by the end of the day, i would be happy.
