Chapter 31

"I will do what I have to do in order to keep my family safe, even if that means I don't make it."

"I love you Isaac, you're going to be okay." Carter whispered brushing his hair from his face as he laid perfectly still.

The hospital room door opened revealing a stressed out Scott and Allison. Melissa had let him in with a key card.

"How did you get in here, I thought only family could see him." Scott asked.

"We are his family, Scott." She smiled softly. "Plus opening locked doors is easy when you're a witch."

"Have you been here all night?" Allison asked looking at Isaac unconscious in the bed.

"Yeah, he was conscious for a minute, but he hasn't woken up since." Carter lowered her head, worried for him, a tear trickled down her face but she quickly wiped it away not wanting them to see her cry.

Scott had walked over next to his best friend, placing his hand comfortingly on her shoulder.

"I thought he'd be healing by now." Carter breathed out.

Scott looked at Isaac, "So did I."

"Is he in pain?" Allison asked.

Scott wrapped his hand around Isaac's forearm, closing his eyes. Carter noticed his veins turning black. Suddenly Isaac rustled in his unconscious state.

Scott breathed in deeply, Carter could tell the pain was excruciating.

"It won't heal him, but it helps with the pain." Scott said.

"Did Stiles really do this?" Allison looked to Scott for an answer.

Carter's eyes darted up in her direction, her voice raised slightly, "You seriously think that Stiles would do this?"

Allison backed up, seeming to drop the idea.

"Clearly it is not actually Stiles." She spat towards Allison. Usually her temper never got the best of her but her boyfriend is laying here in a hospital bed and her brother is being controlled by a demon. Allison even slightly accusing her brother made Carter's anger bubble up.

Scott took Carter's hand, "Whatever's controlling him did it. Whatever's inside him."

"Well, then how do we get whatever's inside of him the hell out of him?" Allison crossed her arms.

"I'm working on it." Scott replied. "We're working on it."

Scott stiffened, "Ill let you know if I find something."

Scott and Allison left, headed for school.

Carter's hand had never left Isaac's, worry growing more and more by the minute.

A pain seared through Carter's head, she closed her eyes seeing a quick glimpse of Aiden and Ethan rushing towards Stiles, murderously.

Carter shot up from her seat, "Isaac I need to leave, I have to find my brother. I'll be back I promise you."

Carter ran through the hallways of the school, trusting her instincts to guide her to where the vision had showed her.

She needed to be quick, before her vision became a reality.

Carter almost tumbled down the basement stairs, quite literally, she never grew out of her incoordination. Carter finally found Scott, the twins and her own twin near the storage containers.
