SILENCE WAS THE ONLY EXCHANGE BETWEEN DEREK AND HAVEN AS THEY STARED AT EACH OTHER. The sound of her pounding heart beat continued to ring through Derek's ears as he kept his eyes locked on her. He took a step forward, completely forgetting his betas were still in the room until Erica's annoying voice broke the harsh silence.

"Who the hell are you?" She snarled, glaring at Haven who refused to look anywhere other than Derek.

Derek released a low threatening growl, his eyes darkening in rage as he glared at the blonde girl still on the floor. "Everyone out." He said, meeting Haven's stare once more.

"But Der–"

"I said out!" Derek roared, his eyes flashing red in his Alpha authority to make everyone obey him. His three betas quickly hurried, Erica glaring at Haven and mumbling under her breath as they all exited. Derek waited and listened for a moment until he knew for sure they all were gone.

Haven took a step forward, crossing her arms over her chest. "Can't really blame you for moving on." She told him, her words slicing his heart as her tone was filled with pain.

"You think I moved on?" He questioned, taking slow steps closer to her while he spoke. His strong gaze made her feel small and intimidated. He was angry. And he had every right to be.

"Well considering I did see it with my own eyes a few minutes ago." She told him, clenching her jaw as she tried to rid the scene of Derek and Erica kissing.

"She's my beta. I needed to build a pack so I chose teens who were willing." He explained, taking another step closer but froze when she took one step back away from him. His hard features softened, feeling her hurt and betrayal.

"You mean... to become the power hungry Alpha you promised you wouldn't become?" She questioned, tilting her head as she glared at him. "I know what you said to Scott at the ice rink, Derek. It was all just for power." She glared at him, trying to keep her anger at bay but at the same time wanting to release all the pent up feelings she tried to bury.

He remained silent for a moment, "You don't get to talk about promises, Haven, you're the queen of breaking them." He instantly regretted the words that left his mouth when he saw her face fall and tears prick her eyes.

"You're right. You're always right, Derek. But I came back this time and at first, I came back for you. Now? Not anymore." She whispered, ignoring the tear that fell from her left eye. She let out a breath, running her fingers through her hair.
