After briefly defeating the lumberjacks on route 8, it was onto Lagoona town, After passing through. Play couldn't help but notice how different it was to Brimber. It was calm, and quiet. The whole town was built in the middle of a huge lake. The river in route 8 led to this place and emptied out all over. Lagoona was also quite a small town. There were only four buildings, a daycare, and a Pokémon center. A small stretch of green, lush grass as a pathway curved round, up some small stone steps into Lagoona. As soon as Gordon saw it, he grabbed Play's wrist and rushed him forward.

"Woah, woah, slow down!" he cried. But Gordon carried right on forward. In front of the daycare, stood an elderly woman, with a blue woolen jersey, and small framed glasses.

"Grandma!" Gordon yelled. He ran and his grandma embraced him in a tight hug.
"Back so soon, chap!" Said an elderly man.

"Grandad!" Gordon yelled. After hugging both of them tightly, he turned around to Play.

"Grandma, Grandad, there's someone I'd like you to meet." He said.

"Who is this?" Grandma said, smiling friendlily.

"This is Play, he helped me back here after I fell down a hole, I think I twisted my ankle." Play felt his face glow red.

"It was really nothing." He joked.
"Oh, nonsense." Grandma said. "He'd still be there if it wasn't for you." And although it was nice having someone to travel with, now it had to come to an end, He had to leave Gordon behind.

"Well, I best be going." Play said, he started to walk away.

"Surely you'll want to stay the night?" Grandma asked. "It's getting dark, you know how dangerous Pokémon can be at night." And she was right. The sun was beginning to set, in an hour or so, it would grow dark. And Rosecove city was a four hours walk.
"I will." Play said.
"Come in, come in." Grandma said, taking him inside the daycare. Inside the daycare, the walls were painted calm yellow and blue. Several cute pictures of baby Pokémon hung on the wall. There were a few benches here and there, and at the front of the room, was a desk.

"This is where we accept and take care of Pokémon." Grandma said. "And behind here, is where we live." Behind the desk, in a little door, opened up to five different rooms.

"Let me give a quick tour of the place." Grandad said. This is mine and Shirley's room. Come in here if you want to speak to us. This is Gordon's room, go in there if you want to speak to him, this is the guest room, this is where you'll be staying."

"Oh, I really couldn't, you're too kind." Play said.

"Oh, come on, this is our gift to you for helping our only grandson. Moving along, this is the storage room, where we keep our eggs, and newly hatched Pokémon in incubators. And this is the final door, this leads to the garden." Grandad led Play out into the garden. Several baby Pokémon were playing and chasing each other, they were so busy that they didn't notice Play and Grandad. Then Grandma came out into the garden.
"We hope you enjoy your stay here, Play." They both said.

As Play was pulling off his clothes and his extra pajamas on, he opened all of his Pokéballs. Prinplup, Flaafy, Nidorino, and Rookidie. Now that 3/4 of his Pokémon had evolved, Rookidie was quite dwarfed. It even looked panic to see how everyone had grown up, except him.

"Everyone, I'd like you to meet Flaafy, the evolved form of Mareep." Prinplup and Nidorino walked over to say hi, while Rookidie was still left out. During bedtime, Prinplup didn't pull it's bed away, tonight, it slept next to Flaafy and Nidorino. But Rookidie was the one to feel left out tonight. The next morning was bright and early. The second Play opened his eyes, he felt someone banging on his bedroom door. Opening his eyes sharply, he realized it was Gordon.

"Hey, I gotta show you this!" He said. Play rolled out of bed, pulled on a jacket and trousers, gathered up his asleep Pokémon, and opened the door. And he was right, it was Barry. Looking at the clock on the wall, he saw that it was half seven in the morning.

"So anyway, I've gotta show you this awesome thing across town."

"Well I-."

"Great!" Gordon said. And Before he knew it, Play was being pushed outside the daycare, and across the town.

"Where are we going?" Said a befuddled Play.

"It's a surprise." Gordon said. Shortly later, the two arrived at a large dome shaped building, it had a glass roof and a small door. Gordon pulled him inside. And Play was greeted with a huge room, with scientists rushing around, holding large rock fossils, and inserting them into beeping scanning machines.

"Hello, Gordon." Said one of the scientist. She was a pretty black lady with a bun of black hair, a charming smile, and a long white overcoat.
"Hi Sally." Gordon said.

"Who is this friend of yours?" She asked politely.

"I'm Play." Said Play, he did a short wave.

"Please let me show you around, she said. Play did not decline this offer. Sally showed him, that they had built a large, yellow sub-machine, capable of diving hundreds of feet to retrieve or find new fossils. Then they took them out of the cargo holder in packages and unboxed them on tables, then they carefully examine it, place it in one of the beeping machines, which would then revive the fossilized Pokémon, causing it to be brought back into existence. The experience was so exciting and exhilarating, that Play never wanted to end.

Soon, just as the afternoon sun rose. Play was getting ready to leave Lagoona, and travel to Rosecove city. Just before he was about to leave. Rookidie burst out of it's pokéball.
"Rookidie, what are you doing?" Play asked. He was about to re-enter Rookidie back to it's Pokéball, but it fluttered away to the daycare, poking it's round head around the corner. Grandma merely smiled at this.

"You know, you could leave your Pokémon here for a bit." She said warmly. Play didn't know what to say at this, he wanted the best for his Pokémon, but wanted them to stay at his side. With small tears in his eyes, he bent down to Rookidie.
"Is this what you want?" He asked. Slowly bust surely, Rookidie nodded it's head. Then he remembered Rookidie jealous of his Pokémon's evolutions. All of a sudden he understood.

"Well then..." he said quietly, he got up and turned around.

"Hey, Play, before you leave." Gordon said. "I want to do one thing." Play stopped and turned around.

"Yes?" He asked tentatively.

"I want to battle you, one on one." Gordon said, a small smile was creeping across his face.

"Why not." Play said, he reached for a Pokéball. Grandad and Grandma got closer to watch.

"Fletchinder, GO!" Gordon said.

"Prinplup, GO!" Play said.

"Even with type disadvantage, I'll still win." Gordon said. "Fletchinder, use flame charge!"

"Prinplup, dodge and use bubble beam." Play called. Prinplup jumped over the flame charge, twisted round mid-air and landed a direct hit. Fletchinder crashed to the floor, but got up.

"We're not giving up yet, Fletchinder, use ember." Gordon called. The ember was so quick, the it made Prinplup bounce backwards.

"Use peck." Play said. Prinplup span round in the air, and pierced right toward Fletchinder.

"Use peck back." Gordon called. The two pecks clashed and eventually set them back. Both of them were vulnerable in mid-air, but Fletchinder was quicker.
"Use razor wing!" Gordon called. Prinplup was sent downwards at an angle, but with some amazing reflexes, it kicked off the ground, and sliced into Fletchinder, then, as it descended, Prinplup shot a fully charged bubble beam right into Fletchinder, and knocked it out.

"Fletchinder, return." Gordon said. He looked said for a moment, then managed, a

"Goodbye."

The afternoon sun was setting, as Play turned around and away from Lagoona, at least for now.

"Bye!" Gordon shouted, from the far distance. "Come and visit!"

"I will." Play shouted back. And that was true, he would come back and meet Gordon. Hey, they might maybe even cross paths one day. But for know, Play had to continue on his Pokémon journey.
