Play sighed deeply, Gordon was great company, and he understood why he'd want to stay. And also he'd lost a Pokémon. But deep down Play wasn't sure wether the reason was him, or just plain jealousy. Either way, he couldn't see himself meeting Rookidie anytime soon. But now it was time to push on. His next destination was Rosecove city. The city containing the third gym. Play was hoping to get their day. It was still a couple hours walk their, and he'd just stopped off at Lagoona, so what was next? Well, as a fact, route 8 was next, and he was just about to continue on his way, when he spotted someone very familiar. It was Jake! he was just standing there, and surveying the nature. As soon as HE spotted Play, he happily began conversation:

"Oh hey, Play!" He exclaimed.

"What's up?" Play also exclaimed.

"Looks like you've finally caught up with me. You took on Team Eclipse all by yourself. That was pretty brave of you. I've got to be honest, that whole time I was just-." Play sighed wholesomely. Some people just never change.

"Looks like you've finally caught up with me. You took on Team Eclipse all by yourself. That was pretty brave of you. I've got to be honest, that whole time I was just waiting at the gym for Sebastian to get back so I could be the first person to get the Brimstone Badge. I was honestly too scared to go challenge Team Eclipse. But you've proven to me that we really are capable of doing great things with the help of our Pokémon. I really admire your strength and determination. The way you're training your Pokémon... You should have your parents back in no time! I just know you will. I know! You can show me how you train your Pokémon!" Jake continued. After a great deal of talking and discussing. Play and Jake talked and talked and talked. Every time they wanted to make an important point, they'd stop and raise their voice. They talked so much that Play completely lost track of time. After leaving Lagoona, the time was around 11:30, he was supposed to arrive at Rosecove around 2:30. But instead he arrived at around 1:30. Talking does really make time fly.

"Hey, we're in Rosecove, time does fly." Play announced.

"Oh yeah, we are, say Play, would you mind battling me before we challenge the gym?" Jake asked. "I just want to sharpen my skills as much as possible." Play thought about this for a moment. It would be a chance to beat Jake, but he could also lose like he did last time.

"I'll do it!" Play said.

"Great!" Jake said.

Jake and Play were facing each other from across route eight. Pokéballs clutched in hand. "Blitzle, GO!" Jake said.

"Ralts, GO!" Play said. "Use psybeam!" Ralts formed psychic power in hands and launched it at Blitzle.

"Quick attack." Jake said. Blitzle dodged round the psychic and smacked Ralts, sending it of it's feet.

"Get up and use psybeam, but just charge it." Play called.

"Quick attack again." Jake said. Blitzle charged right forward to Ralts.

"Teleport, then release!" Play called. Ralts teleported right out of the way of Blitzle and released the fully charged psychic right at Blitzle, launching it into the air and hitting the ground.

"Use electro ball!" Jake called. Blitzle got up straight away and shot an electro ball right Ralts's way.

"Teleport again!" Play called. Ralts teleported out of the way. Now Blitzle was confused, it began spinning around looking for Ralts.

"Use thunder shock." Jake said. Blitzle sent out thunder all around itself in a big ring. Ralts was caught in the middle, and fainted.

"Ralts, return!" Play said. "Nidorino, GO!" Play had brought out Nidorino as it knew a ground type super-effective move.

"Use mud slap." Play called.

"Electro ball, Blitzle." Jake said. Blitzle shot a ball of electric straight forward, but Nidorino blasted right through and knocked out Blitzle.

"Nidorina, GO!" Jake said. Nidorino came out. Now it was male versus female.

"Use poison sting." Jake called.

"Poison sting." Play called. Nidorino's horn filled up with poison and stung forward, Nidorina filled up her hand sting and stung forward. Poison clashed all around. The two looked into each others eyes, and glared. Each one of them were flung backward, both panting.

"Mud slap!" Play said.

"Fury swipes." Jake said. Nidorino's claw surrounded with muddy sand and launched forward. Nidorina launched forward, claws slashing. Explosions clashed back and fourth. Jake and Play both looked onto the battlefield.

"Double kick!" Play yelled.

"Double kick!" Jake yelled. Nidorino's legs kicked into Nidorina, Nidorina's legs kicked into Nidorino. Two big explosions happened just were the two Pokémon were. When the smoke cleared, both Pokémon had fainted. Play and Jake were about to call out their next Pokemon, when they heard shouting behind them. Play turned around, toward Rosecove and saw a Team Eclipse grunt shouting at a harassed looking woman. Play left the battle and ran over.

"Hey!" He said. The grunt had dark brown, shady hair.

"I can't let you past this point." He grunted. "Official Eclipse business going on." Jake joined the fight.

"What are you crooks up to this time?" He asked, narrowing his eyebrows.

"None of your BUSINESS!" He yelled. Jake turned to Play.

"Here, I'll battle him, you get past." He whispered. He reached for a Pokéball and challenged the grunt. The guard actually got so distracted, that he let Play through. Now he had a good look at Rosecove city. Half of the city was a beach, with people in bikinis and shorts, soaking up the sun, on the golden yellow beach, seas of parasols showering their owners. On the other side of the city. Was the grand Rosecove gym. A huge deep blue dome on the top of it, reminding him of the Lagoona fossil research lab. Beautiful blue bricks filled up the gym, supposed gym challengers chatting around. Behind that stood the red Poké-centre. And up-ahead was a green path leading up the a small cottage on a hill. But something very strange was going on, just up ahead on the hill, stood a group of Team Eclipse grunts.
