Part Two / Chapter Forty-Six

Being qualified to do NEWT classes was the only thing keeping Venus together. She'd woken up from a horrible sleep and spun her back around attempting to crack it. Much to her surprise, Constance had already awoken. Her robes on and hair done in a low ponytail. Venus sat on her bed, disheveled from her restless night.

"I heard you cracking your back from the shower," Constance said in disbelief. "I have a chiropractor you can go to."

"I'm fine, thanks." Venus said, standing up from her bed to take a quick shower, throw her robes on and leave the common room with Constance.

"I think I can qualify for NEWT Charms and Herbology, but I only scraped up an Acceptable in everything else," said Constance looking down at her OWL test grades from last year. "Let me see yours."

Venus took out a folded piece of paper from inside her bag and handed it over to Constance.

"Vee, bloody hell!" Constance exclaimed making multiple students turned their heads at the two. "Transfiguration, Outstanding. Defense Against The Dark Arts, Outstanding. Charms, Outstanding. Potions, Outstanding. History of Magic, Exceeds Expectations— Understandable, I got Poor. Care of Magical Creatures, Outstanding."

Many students watched Constance and Venus as they entered the Great Hall. She didn't realize how quickly the news of the fight at the Department of Mysteries circulated amongst the wizarding community.

"Being an Auror is hard work and I need every good mark I can muster up, I can get into every NEWT class this year." Venus said, taking her grades back from Constance and stuffing it back into her purse.

"Oi, Venus!" called Ron from the Gryffindor table, waving the two girls over. She sat next to him and Constance sat beside Harry. "How're you Constance?" he asked.

"Eh." Constance said, kneeling over the table to grab an apple. Venus looked at Ron. His face didn't grow pink when Constance was in his proximity anymore, they even seemed like they were... friends.

"You?" Constance asked in return.

"Reading the Prophet to see if anyone else we know has died." Ron said, holding a rolled up copy of the Daily Prophet in his hands.

"That's scarily ominous." Venus said uneasily.

"Venus," said Harry. "Can you pass me the toast?"

Venus looked around and back at Harry. "What?"

"Er— the toast." He said, indicating the plate of bread in front of her.
